Banger Beautiful with Gok Wan & Simply Yours!

Oh yes. I'm pretty certain, that since starting this blog - I've made it clear how much I adore the Gok Wan underwear range available at Simply Yours UK. I've raved about the Banger Boosters AND Sassy Slip here before because I LOVE Gok's underwear.

Yesterday, in London, I attended the launch of Gok's Spring Summer 2012 Underwear Range and as soon as I walked in, I was VERY, VERY excited. You see - as a girl who wears Gok's bras - regularly - I'm always interested to see what will happen next in his collection. I did like the last range he released, but being honest - was GA GA for the Vintage styles I originally reviewed in 2010... so I've been secretly hoping he would stray back towards those styles. HE HAS.

I can't begin to tell you how happy I was to see the simple, yet structured, sexy lines of this collection. Gok is calling this one his "Wall of Fame" which is based entirely on revamped and redesigned pieces from previous collections - he's listened to his customers, improved items, brought back delicious favourites and retained some of the gentler tones from his last season!

The Collection will come in three colours - Crush (the brighter orange), Blush (a baby pink) and Slate (a sultry grey - which was my favourite!). Pieces released will include his signature Banger Boosters, Slicker Knicker, Divine Outline and Sassy Slip. As ever - there will also be some sexy thigh shapers as well as a Curve Controller for your body!

As with previous collections, this range includes powermesh technology - which I've described before as feeling like a really awesome swimsuit style "power" material. It holds you in, but doesn't suffocate you because your body can breathe. I've always found Gok's range comfortable!

Gok was lovely at the event and took time for everyone. I chatted to him, telling him how when I came across from Australia three years ago I needed to find a new, "main range" and he came to my rescue. I wore one of his bras under my Anna Scholz dress and when I showed him (I am such a minx!), he laughed. It made me think about how women feel comfortable with him - and why not - he's easy to feel comfortable with!

The new range releases at Simply Yours in March - so (for me, at least!), it really is something to look forward to. I want a Banger Booster in every colour and the Sassy Slip and Divine Outline in Slate! That's my plan!

This is a range I love, so I feel really lucky I got to go to the launch.

Company Magazine, River Island Casting Call...

So. I always try and focus on the positive when I post... That positivity will come in this post - but not yet.

First - On twitter the other day, I saw Company Magazine's tweet (above) calling for "real girls" for the River Island Casting Call. I asked a few questions...

I followed that up - asking that if Company Magazine's definition of "real" - means "with curves" - was my size 20 body, too real?

It was then pointed out by MrsBeBe that River Island only goes up to a size 18 - (one of the prizes is a photo shoot IN River Island clothes).

Company Magazine responded saying "We just want you to have style, a quirky personality and a love of clothes. We've not put a size limit on it... If you have all those things then we'd get you clothes in whatever size".

Well. I have all those things. Style? Yup. Quirky Personality? Oh yeah... A love of clothes? Well, that's a no brainer.

So I can enter.

And I have.

In fact - I am jumping up and down with excitement because

LOTS of other plus-size girls have entered too.

Girls who don't fit River Island Clothes.

It's quite funny to be included and told we can enter - even though it's pretty unrealistic any of us will win... I mean - the prize is that the winners show off River Island clothes - which none of us can feasibly wear. But kudos to Company Magazine and River Island for giving us fat girls hope, huh? We sure can enter (even if we can't wear the clothes!).

Now, I don't have an issue with this competition being aimed at actual readers of Company Magazine... BUT I don't believe that a company or magazine should use the term "real women" to advertise something. A "real woman" surely constitutes "ALL women" - whether a size 00 or a size 36. "Real Women" and "Real Girl" are not good terms - because models are real women. And so are thin people and so are fat ones...

(I know some of you lovely readers - will see the term "Real Women" as a good thing and I am fine with people having a different opinion to mine... I just don't think company's should try and be inclusive, though being exclusive).

In the last week, I've had so many women travel through this blog of mine. I'd never thought about about posting on Plus Size Wedding Dress Options or on Plus Size Brides until someone tweeted me and asked about Plus-Size Wedding Dresses. Fascinating.

Your response has been phenomenal. This blog post is really all about you girls. The women who've been brides and the women who will be. Lots of my posts are based in how I feel and reflect my passions and emotions. In the last few days, I put a call out for women to send me their wedding photos. I wanted to post pictures here - to show and celebrate stunning curvy brides and also inspire the girls who will be brides. I am one of the later. I never dreamt of a wedding until I met Mr. Darcy and my dreams now assume a small (fabulous) "do"... Looking at these pictures, that women have been generous enough to send to me - to share with YOU - has been a really emotional experience. They come from all over the world.

You are beautiful. All of you. Thank you.

I passionately hope upcoming brides will feel inspired by this post. I also hope that all girls (singled or coupled) who dream of being brides, will find power and beautiful hope and happiness in all these pictures.

The women featured here are wearing wedding dresses in sizes 12 - 28. Some of the dresses are from High Street Retailers - while others are Designer Wear. All of them are stunning...

Our first bride is Andrea.

Andrea's wedding dress was designed and made by a New Zealand designer called Ellen H. It was supposed to have a zip back which Andrea converted to the corset back, using the same purple as the sash for the lacing. The dress is in ivory, size 18 and she's wearing a purple and black fascinator instead of a veil.

Claire bought her dress from Simply Be in the UK and got her bridesmaids dresses from Monsoon. I actually love Claire's post on her wedding - and it is an amazing reminder of what a great day you can have - and it doesn't have to cost the Earth. I found Claire's post inspirational.

Our gorgeous next bride is Jo.

This photo had me close to tears. I adore this shot - I love the dress, I love the beach, I love the sunset. The hint of purple is beautiful and the lace is just stunning. This is a classic - almost filmic - wedding moment and in the picture is a bride I can relate to. Wow.

Mhairi, of Lilybobombs Lovely Lumps is our next bride.

I love how happy Mhairi is in this photo. Seriously - such a smile! Mhairi sent this through as a really quick photo and I am so glad she did. The dress is from Debenhams. For all you ladies around the world unfamiliar with the UK - that's a high-street retailer. AMAZING and LOVELY. And I love the obvious joy. Makes me sigh!

Mrs BeBe is my next stunning bride.

I love that she included an ACTION/DANCING shot!

The happiness in this photo made me grin like a crazy lady! Mrs BeBe owns the blog, The Ramblings of Mrs BeBe and she sent me through a few really stunning joyous shots. I love her dress and curves and I think she looks stunning. SO happy!

My final stunning bride is Hannah.

Hannah actually had two dresses for her wedding. She wore the City Chic dress, above, for her beach themed day, and then picked a more traditional style gown for her reception. How inspiring is THAT! Two curvy dresses!

All of these brides have been so generous in allowing me to post their pictures. I have felt so moved that all of them included pictures WITH their partners. This is their day - a bride & groom - and in my call out for plus-size brides THESE women have really come through for me. For us.

Your wedding is supposed to be the most beautiful day. Finding your dress may not be as easy as we might all hope - but it can be done... And as you can see - on your day - your smile will shine and you will be stunning.

As people get married through 2012 - if any plus-size brides would like to send me their pictures - I will blog them through the year. I reckon that together, we can make the joy of plus-size wedding dresses come a little easier.

Another Bridal Option...

This is a super quickie post. I was in the Monsoon Flagship today and noticed - Bridal Wear!?!

I asked one of the girls in-store at Monsoon and she told me the bridal range runs between sizes 18-22 in some of the dresses... Now, while I know that cuts accessibility to a significant number of my gorgeous readers - I still thought it was worth mentioning as a plus option. The dresses were quite simple, yet elegant... I liked 'em.

Now ladies - I got an immense response from my last post - and want to thank everyone who has helped me compile a good list of plus-size Wedding Dress Suppliers. I'm going to create an easy and accessible list for upcoming brides!

Plus-Size Wedding Dresses? Options for Brides!

Recently, a gorgeous girl tweeted me and asked me what I know about Plus-Sized Wedding options and dresses... the answer is - not a lot.

As a wannabe fiance to Mr. Darcy (as opposed to ACTUAL fiance), I have no reason (YET) to be looking for dress options... BUT - that doesn't mean I can't blog on it.

When I sent out the question, via my twitter and facebook to find inspiration - it came flowing forward. So here are some links for any budding brides out there.

Firstly - Kiyonna have bridal options. The selection is relatively limited, but does provide a few really nice classic options with the Analisa Lace Dress (pictured right) being my favourite (and the cool thing about THIS dress is it has a picture of a real life curvy bride IN the dress to give you a great context for how it will fit!). This is a stunning, classic look!

Another suggestion from a couple of girls came in the form of Glamour Bridal - which has both an online store AND shop - which means for UK girls - a little trek to Bolton could help with choices.

Igigi by Yulia Raquel have a really pretty, if limited, collection - as well as some interesting options for if you want some colour in your dress! I also had someone send me the link to Light In The Box which looks like it has loads of options up to a USA size 26! And Brides In Love which caters up to an Australian size 30!

I have also found a couple of options for brides online which have shops you can go into here in the UK - Elderberry Brides Plus (Basingstoke based), Heavenly Bodies Bridal (London based), Priddi (Newark-On-Trent based) and The Big Day UK (Yorkshire based). Other online stores also include Wedding Dress Online Shop and Jorma Bridal. Please note though, that all of the stores mentioned in this paragraph were sourced via Google as opposed to word of mouth.

The most retro suggestion via both twitter and facebook came in the form of Dolly Couture - a wedding dress site with shorter, vintage-inspired options. This site has set sizing, but also - will custom make your dress for you! I liked a lot of the options here - particularly, the Beverlywood dress (pictured).

I am sure there are more options and I would love people to comment below so I can expand this post. It would be nice if we could get some sort or resource together which makes a search like this easy... Finding "The Dress" should be fun and enjoyable - so let's help that along!

I would also suggest remembering that dressmakers/designers are always a really good option as you'll get exactly what you want tailor-made for you... That being said, dressmakers aren't always the most cost effective option - so BUYING a dress and getting it altered will also help it feel like your choice was made exactly for you.

Thinking outside the box could help too! I've been to a couple of fabulous weddings with brides in all different colours or even print! To be honest - I rekon when Darcy and I do eventually get hitched, I might be in something with colour... definitely lace somewhere too!

Whatever you're looking for, your wedding day belongs to you and your future partner! You want to look fabulous and you deserve to, also! You should be able to get what you want... Make sure you can return anything you buy online so that if it's not right - you can send it back.

Someone has mentioned UNDERWEAR to me... and it is a good point. When going to try dresses, wear underwear that is lovely and supportive. If you know what you might wear on the big day - taking that along is a pretty good idea, but if not - make sure you wear something supportive and confidence building that might MATCH what you'd wear on the day. Give yourself the best chance of seeing your body IN the dress. Another person also suggested going with hair and makeup subtle, but looking nice. Obviously not overt - but doing your hair a little bit, as opposed to just rolling out of bed and going to the store, will ALSO help you picture yourself in your garment on your wedding day.

This is not quite a fashion post, so much as a delightful share...

As many of you know - my blog is named for the AMAZING Dr. Seuss book, Oh The Places You'll Go! My tag line under my banner up there is a line from the book. "Find the bright places where the boombands are playing..." The book and that line are magical to me. Magical.

My blog has undergone a change since I started a few years ago. It isn't just about fashion. It's about fashion, but, it is also about having a beautiful time. Feeling good. Being wonderful. Having confidence - ENJOYING LIFE. In essence, FINDING the Boombands. That may all sound a little whimsical - but in many ways, I am. I can be very serious and I feel very passionate about things... but my heart - well, my heart has lots of room for smiles and sparkles!

Crazy and Happy! Playing in the Snow on a Sledding Holiday in Switzerland, 2011!

I am not sure if many of you have heard of the Burning Man Festival - and I am sure that while some people might LOVE the concept - others may be a little less keen... However you feel - is okay by me.

Recently though - The Burning Man Project produced a film at the Festival - that has made my week. It was posted on Facebook by one of my good friends (and fellow bloggers) and I am re-posting it for you. I know that some of you will LOVE it, while some of you won't - so please excuse a semi-off-topic post.

I am a big believer in just loving life, embracing moments and finding bright places - as best we can. Life isn't always easy - so hopefully - this will ignite something in you... as it did in me!

A little disclaimer that the film is a little zany, fabulously original and anything but conservative... AND JUST LIKE the Dr. Seuss book - it has a wonderful message and really is just LOVELY!

We Love Colors Footless Tights Review in GREEN!

I love Leggings. I love that they are footless and easy and comfortable and stretchy...

A while ago, when I was contacted by We Love Colors to look at their Plus Size Fishnets I became obsessed with the site... Specifically - after that review, I was fascinated by the quality and accessibility of their tights for the plus-size leg. I've got quite a pair of thighs. The kind of thighs that might try and SQUEEZE into "straight XL sized tights", but can't ACTUALLY pull those tights up to the crotch... You know, because they get caught - mid-thigh.

ARGH.

I don't really wear stockings here in the UK. I've found "fancy" lace pairs at a few places - but deliciously coloured, comfortable, fitted stockings or tights? I haven't really found anything I LOVE - so, I HAD to try the We Love Colors Plus-Size Footless Tights.

Firstly - let me say, I love that they are footless. I like that they are cuffed neatly around my ankle - clinging to me, without cutting into me, so they don't ride up but still sit securely (all day). They are amazing. I love how luscious the colour is, as well as how comfortable they are. They have stretch. They feel soft. They are interesting!

I put these tights on, and like the We Love Colors Plus-Size Fishnets, they just felt right... immediately. I didn't have to reposition the tights on my leg, struggle to pull them up or feel like I was kidding myself in putting them on. They just felt easy, nice, right.

I have matched my tights for this review with a funky Carmakoma Dress (circa 2009), City Chic Bolero, Evans Boots and Craft Fair Necklace (also in Green and Black - HELLO co-ordination!). I love that the green adds something unique to this Block Black outfit without being sheer black or "nude" coloured. I love this look to be honest and it is one I feel comfortable and secure in.

The tights themselves were comfortable all day - and certainly something I recommend. We Love Colors DO have plus-size tights with the feet built in - but for me? I love the feel of wooly socks on my naked toes - FOOTLESS all the way! These tights are GOLD - Comfortable and Pretty.

YES Please!

The Novelty of a New Year!

I love the New Year. I know a lot of people let them pass as one year melts into another - but for me? New Years really do signify the start of something new. And I like to start as I mean to go on...

I've spent my first week of the new year feeling relaxed. I've spent time organising my house and life and also thinking about what I want to happen over the next twelve months. It is exciting to plan (mind you, I need to do a 2012 budget yet... YAWN!!). Oh yes, I'm also newly obsessed with Downton Abbey!

The end of the festive season saw Mr. Darcy and I pottering about London. I didn't take too many "fashion photos" but we did get a few pics in at the London Natural History Museum in South Kensington. So pretty, and at the right price (FREE), it makes for a lovely day out!

Seriously... what an AMAZING day and mostly - I wanted to look at Dinosaurs - so there we went!

It was pretty wonderful to be honest. I love Art Galleries and visit one every few months - but it's been ages since I was at a museum and I didn't realise how cool and accessible they are. I remember them being much more dreary when I was growing up.

Apart from your normal touristy shots, we also got in a couple of novelty poses... This one was my fave!

For my day out, I rocked a cropped City Chic jacket and an awesome H&M Scarf. I teamed them with a simple skirt and tights...

This is my favourite jacket right now - I love the colour and it's beyond comfortable. It's made of pleather and sits really nicely on my skin. I must say - the milder weather has been lovely this winter, as it's allowed me to mix up my wool coat with autumnal staples.

I have had an amazing blogging year, this year. And I am a big believer in taking time to stop...

Stop, assess, make plans, say thank you... one might call it a reality pause!

Thank you to everyone who has been reading this year.

I have BIG plans for 2012. As mentioned in my last post... There will be LOTS more clothes for you gorgeous girls to look at. I have lined up interviews with Plus Models, as well as meetings with Designers. In February, I will be attending Plus London Two and chatting with other bloggers about the AMAZING world we write in and look at. I will continue my blogging for City Chic.

Next year, I have decided to open up a little more. I occasionally write articles about things happening in the fashion world, well - I might (just every now and again) focus a little more on me and my issues with self acceptance and feeling okay about myself. I DO feel good about myself - but it hasn't always been an easy journey and I think some of you have told me this year - you see value in hearing some of my stories... I think it's important to talk about the things we can all relate to!

I have to thank everyone who has helped me with my blog this year for supporting me across another great and successful 365 days... Especially, the retailers, brands and designers who have worked with me. Thank you to the amazing new people I've met and the wonderful people who've invited me to try their clothes and work with them. Everyone at City Chic - Phil, Steph, Carley, Vanessa. The lovely Charlotte. Anna, Cliff and the whole team. My fellow bloggers - from ALL OVER (LOVE!).

I get lots of support from my family and friends in doing this blog - but I also get LOADS from you lovelies who read my blog. I nearly quit blogging in June this year - and I am so pleased I changed my mind.

Mostly, for how much he helps me to do this blog, I have to thank my Mr. Darcy. He takes my photos, comes shopping with me, gives me honest opinions and HELPS me to keep blogging. Love him! (LOVE YOU DARCY).

Carolyn de la Drapière: LOVE Jackets!

I hope all you beautifuls are enjoying your Christmas fastivities, or, if you don't celebrate, are enjoying your end to the year!

I am so well. Mr. Darcy and I had a delightful Christmas and at the moment, I am enjoying family time at my sister's place in Bristol... New Years? I plan to open a bottle of Bollinger and be a bit more festive! I LOVE me some Bolli!

I've decided to end my clothing posts for the year with my last look at Carolyn de la Drapière. I have saved jackets for last. I don't really wear tailored jackets. I have my (p)leather jackets and some LOVELY boleros and cropped cardis - but no jackets. I LOVED trying these on with Carolyn though and whether they were tailored, drapey or sheer - all of them are lovely and fit me beautifully...

The first one has an amazing drape on it. You could actually wear it a number of ways because of the amount of fabric and the fact that the drape is so generous. I LOVED this one when I put it on!

The next one is an amazing tailored jacket, again with Carolyn's choice of high quality material and beautiful tailoring - it took my breath away. I never wear jackets like this, but know a lot of curvier women swear by tailored blazers or nipped in jackets. I love the use of colour in fabric choice - too!

You ladies KNOW I love designer wear. This last year has seen me work with some amazing designers, show you great fashions comprising High End Plus Wear and I have been lucky enough to meet and INTERVIEW top models who showcase these clothes to us. This look at Carolyn de la Drapière has been a fantastic BOOMBANDY way to end the year. I mean, HELLO!?! Gorgeous, Much?

In the next few days, I will post to you about my plans for 2012. I am in my third year of blogging and this year will see more outfits (OH YEAH) as well as more from the people who bring us the fashions. Next year will include interviews with designers and models, blogging from Plus London Two and a Bloggers Annual rounding up the best from 2011. Carolyn de la Drapière: Part Two - Tops!

I thought for my next post on my studio visit to Carolyn de la Drapière I would show you some of the amazing tops I tried while I was there. I had a really positive response to the last post - and lots of enthusiastic women saying how excited they are by this little showcase of another (AMAZING) plus designer's fashions.

You gotta LOVE blogging.

This first top is similar in shape to the wrap dresses I had in my last post. I LOVE the fabric on this one, which could easily have a cami underneath, subtle white lace underwear - or even a little sneaky colour on show... you can see that in these shots, my black bra and leggings - in all their glory - WORK here. The deep diamond in the front is really sexy and for anyone who has belly woes - it has a drape that works well in the front. LIKE the wraps, this top seems to cinch me in as it cuts a waist line RIGHT under my bust. I'm like - VA VA VOOM.

The next top was probably my FAVOURITE that I tried on. The shape is amazing, but so too is the fabric and finish. It had tiny little bells sewn into the neckline and sleeves. The sheer piece across the bust is sewn in. Just lovely...

AMAZING. The line of fabric under my bust (AGAIN WITH BELLS!!!) can be drawn back into a tie - which is how I am wearing it here... or the top could have a bow in the front. I love a little versatility! I have popped this on with my tights and can imagine rocking it over a gorgeous pair of jeans, smart pants or sexy little black skirt. Frankly, this top blew my mind. I LOVE it.

Apart from the gorgeous dresses and tops I have already shown you, Carolyn has a range of pieces that can be worn quite formally and the look below is elegant and gorgeous. Carolyn showed me a couple of photos of women wearing the same jacket and slip I have below and they were women a little differently shaped to myself... they looked amazing! Seriously! Stylish, elegant and beautiful.

This whole look felt really lovely on my body also - one of those outfits you put on and just feel really wonderful wearing. YES!

I have one last post to do for you on this studio visit - featuring a range of Carolyn's jackets. The tailoring on all the clothing is so amazing. I know the High Street has come a long way, but I must say - I am so excited to be featuring Carolyn - her clothes are lovely and really beautifully made and tailored for us.

Carolyn de la Drapière: Studio Visit!

Many of you will recall, last month, thanks to Anna Scholz, I was able to head to the wonderful Curves in Couture event. In my write-up, I discussed the night as being AMAZING and mentioned my first impressions of the plus size clothing from designer Carolyn de la Drapière. I wanted to know more!

Well heck, Ladies - say something loud enough...!

Carolyn invited Mr. Darcy and I to her studio for a delightful morning of chatting, looking at clothes AND then - trying them on for size! I constantly rave about how amazing our plus-size fashion can be and I feel lucky to have spent the day with Carolyn, who again solidified these feelings.

Carolyn and I both grew up in Australia and while Carolyn's been in the UK a lot longer than me, our conversation was still easy and familiar! Carolyn is passionate about what she does. She got her grounding in sewing and tailoring at home, learning from her mother at an early age. Mind you, being a designer was not where Carolyn started her career... But, it IS where her heart has brought her... Having tried some of her clothes, I can tell you, she's very good at it.

At the Curves in Couture show, Carolyn had a couple of gorgeous wrap dresses head down the catwalk... I knew I had to try them!

My heart skipped a beat when I put this one on. I immediately noticed three things...

Details: thanks to the covered buttons, structured edging and high wearing collar;

Tailoring: the shape of this dress is just perfect on my body. I was pulled (without actually being pulled) into a gorgeous hour glass that made me look, well, delicious and sexy - but also classic and feminine... (even if I do say so myself).

Last, but not least - Fabric. Luxurious. High Quality. Beautiful. All of it.

The details are amazing when it comes to Carolyn's designs! I also LOVE this print!!!

In fact I put this dress on, and my Mr Darcy did a double take.

The next dress I tried, another wrap, was made from a heavy(ish) linen. Honestly? My instincts would never see me choose a heavy linen fabric to try - but thank goodness I did.

The dress felt secure and structured, the fabric soft and I felt... Well. This one made me think of vintage sailing trips from the 1950s. I would totally have rocked this look!

AGAIN in this wrap, you can see the gorgeous shape and the sexy emphasis on accentuating curves in the most delightful and feminine manner.

This dress was a quick favourite of mine. There was something about the fabric (print and feel) that made me feel current but also vintage... isn't it crazy and LOVELY how clothes can be so magic in their construction?

The great thing about being in the studio with Carolyn was her actually dressing me. Carolyn's garments can be made to size or tailored to the body, I loved watching her standing back to assess me and decide if something was right or needed straightening, tightening, sizing up or sizing down. It was proper fun!!

I wanted to share some of this with you but looking through my photos, there really is too much for just one post. So next week? Look out for two more!

You know it ladies, I LOVE FASHION... I love designer fashion. I love high street fashion. Ultimately, I love GOOD fashion; the kind of fashion made with us in mind. Carolyn de la Drapière makes clothes for us and she makes them well... I am so excited to show you more!

By George! I'm in Party Mode!

The fabulous and delightfully inexpensive plus brand George contacted me a week or so ago, to see if I wanted to "create a holiday party look" using one of the George Evening Dresses. I immediately jumped at the chance. I don't have an Asda close to me and have never had the opportunity to see the brand close up. Well, as soon as I received my choice, The Zig-Zag Slinky Cowl Formal Dress (£14.00!!), I was really pleased with myself for saying yes! Really ladies, the word "yes" is amazing!

(ESPECIALLY when it comes to trying new styles and clothes... !!)

I have gone with "New Years" as my festive theme. Subtle and gorgeous, I took my George dress and paired it with a simple hair clip, classic earrings, a soft shrug, boots and a belt. To be honest, this dress has a delightful drape, thanks to the soft fabric and cowl neck, so looked equally as lovely without the belt.

I've been thinking a lot lately about my home back in Australia as well as the colour, vibrancy and sunshine associated with this time of year. Hopefully, I've created a look that captures a free spirited and festive feel. My goal here is to be pretty, fun and ready for a great meal and fabulous partying.

When I selected this dress, I browsed through the George Evening Wear and loved so many items. That being said, I am so pleased I've taken part in creating a party look using one of the George Dresses. Many of you know I look at a lot of designer wear here on my blog and it is great to showcase a gorgeous print, lots of colour and a festive style - all in a dress under £20.00! WOWSERS!

I am Simply Voluptuous with Marisota - Review!

Sometimes, you put a dress on and it just feels RIGHT. It doesn't always happen... You might put it on and think you need accessories, the right shoes, different underwear, jewellery. Well, let me tell you, when I put on the Simply Voluptuous dress from Marisota, all I could think was YES. THIS is a dress you can wear so many ways and with very little effort. This one, just looks and feels great from the get go!

The dress is made from deliciously soft fabric and is designed (within its very tailoring) to cater to dress size, as well as chest size. I am wearing a 22 here in the E-GG range. The awesome thing is, all sizes also come in smaller cup size measurements (B-DD) and LARGER cup size measurements (H-K). This dress has a little extra fabric in its makeup, in specific cup size brackets for those of us who are heavier endowed... And for those who aren't... Simple - there can be less fabric too.

The dress is tailored beautifully with a high waist line and gorgeous lace cap sleeves. I felt really sexy in this dress and teamed it with some Mimco bling and a little black belt.

To be honest, when asked to review something, I was very excited... I haven't shopped with Marisota previously and the experience of ordering and receiving was VERY straight forward. Further from that, I was really curious about this style of dress - I mean - would it work? I am SO chuffed that the Simply Voluptuous range actually caters for plus size as well as chest size. It does work, and I actually really love the dress and the concept!

I decided to wear this into the west country for a lovely, fancy afternoon lunch... It would look just as suitable at work or, indeed, out with cocktails!

OOTD: Not quite a Christmas Jumper!

New Look Jumper, City Chic Shorts & Leggings, Hungarian Leg Brace, Karrimor Sneakers.

Last week, Lauren and I hit up Westfield Stratford for some Christmas Shopping. I had a fabulous time, actually - Lauren and I spent HOURS together - we bought some clothing, presents for Christmas and then chatted. Chatted FABULOUSLY and EASILY for hours. It is amazing what the blogging world has given me, and friendships are a massive part of that!

For the Plus-Size shopper, Westfield is actually not great, but also - not too bad, Forever 21 has included its Plus Section instore and New Look has done the same with its Inspire range. We asked about BiB in H&M (not present) and I was sad to see no Evans store in the mall... Like many here in London, I am desperately waiting for Simply Be to arrive (I think we should twitter #simplybestorelondon). Also present were Monsoon, Dorothy Perkins and M&S.

I bought a jumper at New Look through the Inspire range.

Oh hells yeah.

I LOVE this jumper. I didn't try it on in-store (rather held it up to my body and demanded to know what Lauren thought), but brought it home to try. I adore it. For about three days after buying it, it was all I wore (don't you love items you can do that with because you LOVE them SO MUCH!). This is my first New Look item EVER and I am so pleased I decided to try it. I also got it at a BARGAIN price of £12 (it was half off!)... Sales are MENTAL at the moment, huh?

Apart from this awesome new jumper, I am wearing a pair of High-Waist Black City Chic shorts which I am OBSESSED with at the moment. I wear them out with black leggings and it almost looks like they are all in one... but they aren't and I love that. I've found that teaming the black shorts and leggings with a colourful top REALLY lets the colours up top pop(!!) and it looks really fab.

Rocking great clothing and some subtle panda eyes!

In Australia over Christmas, we NEVER wear jumpers (thank you SUMMER), so this year I have declared this my "Christmas Jumper"...

I am hoping to work up to a jumper next year with Reindeer on! Or at least an elf or something!

*EDIT: Apparently there IS an Evans in Westfield Stratford. I was there for hours and could not see it... Hmm. Maybe look at a map before you go there to get your fancy fashions ladies!!! Certainly, walking around, it was not (at all) obvious to find.

Simply Be & Simply Yours Joint Press Day!

The Simply Be and Simply Yours Joint Press Launch for the Spring Summer Collections 2012 occurred just over a week ago. With several other bloggers, I was invited to view the lovely clothing and gush over pretty colours and beautiful designs.

Fact. I LOVE Simply Be. I love that Simply Be has an amazing committment to Plus Fashion that saw it start to open stores this year (!!). I love Simply Yours, not only for the amazing, supportive and comfortable underwear, but also for the sexy little pieces I can indulge my heavy curves in...

Walking through the Collection, I was really excited to see lots of gorgeous colour and many varied pieces. As I walked about, I saw pieces that really appeal to me, but also ones that I know will cater for different tastes.

There were sections which were LOVELY - lingerie, swimwear, jumpsuits, shoes, accessories and EVERYTHING else! This was a lovely event as it really showcased lots of amazing (upcoming) fashion for our plus-size bodies, as well as emphasised to me, the commitment that Simply Be and Simply Yours both have to relevant, beautiful fashion.

On my way to the dry cleaners to get something steamed, I like to spruce up my look with a leg brace, sneaker/boot combination and this EXCLUSIVE 60s Print Swirl Dress (£65), available only at Simply Be.

This is a classic case of Anna Scholz tailoring, the gorgeous gathering at the front of the dress is a beautiful feature that emphasises the breast and hip, while nipping in a wee bit at the waist. The gathering detail is mirrored in the back and the material is a stretchy jersey fabric which feels comfortable and sexy on my curves.

I love this dress. the print and colours brighten my day every time I wear it, and the shape it gives me is just lovely.

This dress is part of the Anna Scholz range that is only available at Simply Be.

My blog name comes from a Dr. Seuss book, "Oh, The Places You'll Go"... and the tag under my header up there is "Find the Bright Places Where the Boombands are Playing". This dress actually REMINDS me of those themes.

ASOS Curve Exclusive Colourblock Dress.

After yesterday's post and requests on my Facebook, I wanted to share this as fast as possible! So, instead of going out and taking action shots, you get my freshly blow-dried hair and fabulously odd socks. This dress is so lovely though and I think some shots out and about in this dress will ALSO have to be blogged here.

ASOS Curve Exclusive Colourblock Dress - £27 (reduced from £45)

The material is so light and gorgeous, I felt like I was touching something absolutely delicate when I pulled the dress from its packaging. The red trim button detailing is BEYOND feminine cute and the waist line is in the perfect place for a high empire line. From the waist, the dress falls in soft pleats BEAUTIFULLY over the hip and the red colour block is a stunning colour against the lighter fabric of the dress.

When I put this on, I was a little unsure and then, as I stood looking at myself in the mirror, I suddenly thought: YES.

I love this. I will take some more photos for you (I look a little top heavy above on the right there!), but just want to say that if you are one of the MANY women sitting on the fence about whether or not to get this dress - TRY IT. My photos also don't quite do the red justice - so I HAVE to get this outside for you.

Bottom line? It is lovely. Well made and gorgeous. ASOS Curve doesn't always get it right, but for me - this is SPOT ON.

ASOS Curve: Dresses with Lace - Reviews!

ASOS CURVE Lace Dress With Long Sleeve - £50

Well this is a LOVELY dress. I actually really liked this one when I tried it. It fits really nicely and is made of the same soft lace I adored so much on my favourite ASOS Curve dress that I posted about a while back...

The long sleeves are lovely and lush and the empire line sits in exactly the right place. The colour is beautiful. But...

I didn't keep it.

I had two (albeit small) issues with this dress that made me realise I just wouldn't wear it much. Firstly... The lining. At the very bottom of the lining, to help the dress "puff out" the hem of the lining has a tulle style ruffle in order to make the dress fall out around your body. I prefer a much more natural line and although tulle can be great, I felt a little disappointed that it wasn't listed on the description on the site. The second issue was in the bust area. I put this on wearing a black bra and then changed to a deep red bra... Better? Yes, but still not fab. Here's why.

Myself. My unmanicured nail. My cleavage.

Honestly? I can wear risquè, cleavage loving clothes and have my boobs on show... but I don't want to do that every day. One of the things that origially appealed to me about this dress was that I thought it looked so classy and kind of elegant. It is a beautiful dress that fits well and many of you could enjoy... but for me, it doesn't do what I want it to do, so it's a "no".

ASOS CURVE Jersey Dress with High Neck Lace - £30

If any of you wanted to see my belly rolls - this is the dress to see me in and if you click through the picture (it will get a little larger) you will see more of what I mean.

In ASOS Curve, I buy a size 22 to cater for my chest and the form fitting nature of the garments. Well. Here you can see my chest looks okay... but my belly? Well. Let's just say, for my style, it's a bit too big for this form fitting 22... It makes me wonder, is this deliberate? Is the size deliberately fitting like this? Is ASOS Curve trying to pioneer a new "Fat Belly" trend?

I don't know. What I do know is that this dress is beautiful. I LOVED it. Putting it on was easy, the jersey felt good, the neckline and lace are lovely... but seriously... What's with the fit? I COULD go up a size, but I rekon a 24 would still be way too tight in the gut... and a 26 would start to be too roomy in the boob.

ARGH. ASOS, I love you, but you drive me insane. And this picture is polite. Thank goodness it's over exposed and I can control its published size. This dress is okay. Gorgeous. Unfortunately, in person - for my taste , the fit says "here's my belly button" and I just ain't into that.

Mind you, on a happier note I bought THIS dress... Flipping FABULOUS. Blog post soon!

Curves in Couture.

There is something so sexy about a little confidence, a wry smile and lots of spirit. Last Thursday at the Curves in Couture event in London - Notting Hill exploded with the sass and confidence of curvy fashion and let me tell you, it was pretty damn sexy.

As I walked the red carpet into Curves in Couture, I felt awash with anticipation. The bar was buzzing with celebrity, media, paparazzi, designers and (of course) fashion lovers from all over... As I entered, I was immediately grabbed by The Pocket Rocket and The Monkey Fatshionista, who - like myself - were excited with anticipation of what we were about to see; International Models taking the runway to showcase some of the best plus-size fashion in the world. WOW WOW WOW.

The main room with the catwalk looked amazing. I had never been to The Tabernacle in London before, but it was a fantastic venue enabling excellent views of the catwalk from all angles. There was some time before the show started and I met Victoria from Fierce Fat and Fashionable, as well as Rosie from A Rose Like This. There was such a spirit in the air. It was positive and beautiful and exciting.

I made a beeline for Anna Scholz and her (BEYOND FABULOUS) crew to thank them for my invitation, as well as catch up on the planning and staging that goes into their participation in such an event. Anyone on facebook would've seen that the planning of Curves In Couture was a massive effort, done by volunteers, with proceeds going to The Advance Centre... it felt amazing to see it all coming together.

I swear, as Velvet d'Amour entered the room - it almost exploded with excitement. The press made for Velvet, then Velvet made for Anna, so with the Anna Scholz Fashion team (Winnie, Liz and Stefanie - LOVE), I found my seat.

The show was opened by Natalie Cassidy who introduced the Models of Diversity. MOD effectively put on the night's event,and is a group dedicated to bringing a more diverse range to the catwalk, without discrimination, or reference to age, race, size or (dis)ability. It was a beautiful opener for the show and a unique, positive way to start. There were a couple of models who came out - who literally gave me goose bumps - it drilled home, THIS WAS NO ORDINARY night!

Pamela Stephenson took the stage to introduce the "Curves in Couture" aspect of the show. You know how sometimes your body can brace with anticipation? Well, the WHOLE ROOM was like that. Universally, a breath was held, as Anna's show was announced and Robyn Lawley took the stage - I felt like my heart was going to explode out of my chest, it was beating so fast with excitement.

Ladies, let me tell you - it is an amazing thing to be in a room like that. Everyone was SO READY for the show. And suddenly, here we were. Robyn Lawley, Lizzie Miller, Tocarra Jones, Sophie Sheppard, Tanya Gervasi, Gina Swire, Marlous Van Zee, Mellissa Laycy, Harriet Coleman, Anoushka, Victoria Eisermann and model after model. SO MANY gorgeous models showcasing fashion I can wear. That YOU can wear.

Anna Scholz's show contained gorgeous clothing from her Spring Summer 2012 Collection. As mentioned, Robyn Lawley came out first, followed by Lizzie Miller and as the night started, it felt like us audience members were privy to something very special.

There were tunics, dresses, summery cover-ups for swimwear... all of it looked stunning, and whether form fitting or flowy, they were shaped with you and I in mind.

You know how I feel about Anna, her tailoring is supurb and it was fantastic to see the clothing on the different models as they walked the catwalk. As ever, when I saw the clothes, my heart leapt thanks to the colour and prints on show.

I love the femininity present in the collection - it was all just so female and curvy and beautiful. Seriously ladies. I can not wait for next year!

As the last model in the Anna Scholz range had walked the catwalk, it felt like time had passed too quickly - it was a great opener - as those of us watching NEEDED to see more. What a great way to start.

Up next was young designer Erin Lacey who had Robyn Lawley showcase one amazing dress from her range.

Erin is a new, young designer and her clothing looks innovative and sexy. Robyn took the catwalk by storm and although it was a pity we only got to see one dress - it did make me hungry; I can not wait to learn more! There was a tailoring aspect to the dress that let me know - Erin is one to watch.

Following Erin was Carolyn de la Drapière a London based designer creating clothes for every day women. I had not heard of Carolyn's designs previously and watched with bated breath...

There was some lovely colour, but what struck me immediately was the tailoring. The clothes looked beautiful and spirited - her wrap dress is something I must try and certainly, the shapes of the dresses, pants and tops that went down the catwalk were just lovely.

It was amazing actually. And as a fashion lover with some time off at the moment - I plan to go on a search and see what else I can find from this designer.

Danielle Liane. WELL. Danielle is a student designer and the clothes she put down the catwalk were completely sexy. For those of you who love curve hugging, sheer fabrics - you have to get on board!

The dresses we saw were all beautiful, a little risquè and completely feminine. The collection was bejeweled, included jewel colours (rich bright green and blue) and then also had a degree of sublime sparkle.

Jill Alexander was the last curvy couture designer in the show. Just like Anna was the perfect way to start - Jill's Collection was a great way to end.

There was sass and spirit because AS SOON as the first model, Tocarra, came out and shimmied to the salsa style music, we knew were in for a treat.

This collection (Spring Summer 2012) is vibrant and full of energy. As with so many of Jill's amazing Collections her use of colour and print was ever present as we watched the dresses, playsuits and skirts go by.

Robyn Lawley looked stunning in block colours and Tanya Gervasi had the crowd whopping in Jill's wedding dress finale.

The Collection was exquisite and as the only designer showing from the United States it was special to know we were seeing a first and exclusive showing of the upcoming Collection.

After the Curvy Couture was completed, next down the catwalk were ten of the latest and innovative hats by milliner Ilda Di Vico. I am obsessed with peacocks, and the hats with peacock feathers were my favourites.

All were amazing though and the ones worn by Robyn and Lizzie were particularly mind blowing.

Following the Di Vico designs was one last garment by Renaissance and it was modeled by Kelly Knox. Kelly won the show "Britains Missing Top Model" and looked stunning in the Renaissance dress, this beautiful woman was a perfect way to remind the audience about diversity needed in fashion.

The finale went to the designers who took to the stage and walked with a model (in their design) down the catwalk. SUCH cheering.

This was a really amazing night and in the audience was Caroline Rush, the CEO of the British Fashion Council - it would be fantastic to think she might look at the night and consider inviting a plus designer to show at London Fashion Week. Also there was Zandra Rhodes, other international models, press, bloggers, supporters... The night had spirit and energy.

After the show I enjoyed a drink downstairs and chatted with people. EVERYONE had a great time, everyone felt excited. As an ex-pat Australian, I was proud to meet Robyn Lawley and Sophie Sheppard - both women were stunning and friendly and seemed to like chatting to someone from home. Hells yeah.

I met the gorgeous model, Harriet Coleman, who I am sure is about to explode on the fashion scene and the stunning Gina Swire who I accosted for a photo. I looked in awe at Lizzie Miller, who for me, is a bit of a fashion goddess - the first model who made me think - I CAN BE INVOLVED thanks to her now infamous photo in Glamor. It was great to say hello to her too.

What I am trying to say is that these amazing women were accessible. It was pretty stunning to see models go down a catwalk in clothes I can wear, and then lovely to be able to chat to them afterwards. A group shot was taken at the end of the night as we were walking through Notting Hill - and while I was invited to jump in for the shot, I am more pleased that I got the image (a few times!!) on my camera... It was fantastic and surreal - all at the same time.

So cool... End of the night group shot. I took a couple for myself and some for the models too! Aw!

I ended my night with Anna, Liz (from Anna Scholz Fashion) and Gina. It was fun and lovely and I felt lucky to have been invited and indeed, included by everyone - so easily. I don't experience girlie nights out too often and this felt like an ULTIMATE girlie night out. I also learnt something about myself. I can be a bit shy.

I must say a massive congratulations to the Models Of Diversity team for putting on such a stunning event.

And again, to Anna, Cliff, Winnie, Stefanie, Liz and everyone else at Anna Scholz, thank you for my invitation - I had a fabulous night.

Strides Forward here in the UK...

This last year has seen little leaps and bounds forward for plus size fashion. It is an exciting time to be involved in blogging as amazing things seem to be happening weekly.

Inside a NEW Simply Be store!

In recent months, Curvy Clothing Brand, Simply Be, opened its first stores in Liverpool and Bury. More are already planned. This is amazing for plus-size girls and at a time where so many stores from other brands are closing, these two openings mark quite a commitment and indeed, achievement, also. I haven't made it to a Simply Be store yet, but I am keen to go - I can see from bloggers, press and every day consumers, that they are amazing!!

Also over at Simply Be, the winner of their Model Search was announced with Abi Hill (left) becoming the new face of Simply Be. Abi is stunning and as someone who not only wears Simply Be, but also loves the brand, she is a very deserving (and beautiful) winner!

Meanwhile, over on twitter, I asked Evans if they were collaborating with Beth Ditto again soon, and was told that while there is nothing with Beth coming up, there IS another awesome collaboration coming along soon! Oh heck yeah! I can not wait for more information on that! GO EVANS.

Over at OneStopPlusUK they've done a survey of... 10,000 women asking who they thought was the sexiest celebrity of all time and whose body they most wished they had... You know who won? The amazing Marilyn Monroe. She was a total curvy delight and it is refreshing to know her body and image are what people aspire to... Beyonce was next in line followed by Sofia Vergara and Kim Kardashian.

By today's "fashion standards" Marilyn, while beautiful, would be considered quite the curvy celebrity, probably being about a size 8... which, while small, is still on the heavy curve side of current celebrity stylings...

Over at the Yours Clothing Blog, the amazing Lauren is posting look ideas, competition details and discounts on an almost daily basis. I swear, she must work 24 hours to cover all that content and the Yours twitter and Facebook! Go Lauren! Lane Bryant is finally shipping to the UK and ASOS Curve has some amazing deals going through in the lead up to Christmas (with things going on and off sale like some sort of mad!). Things are amazing right now!

Finally - tonight, I will be going to the Model of Diversity Curves in Couture Show. This show is being put on by a group of people passionate about catwalk diversity and the inclusion of all shapes, ages, races and sizes on the Catwalk.

Tonight - at the Curves in Couture Show, the emphasis will be Plus Size fashions.

I am actually really excited and was really lucky to be invited as a guest of Anna Scholz. Along with Anna, other designers on show will include Jill Alexander and Miss Lacey. Lizzie Miller will be on the catwalk, as will Robyn Lawley, Toccarra and Kelly Knox. Velvet d’Amour will be there, as will print media and TV Cameras. There are a few other bloggers going and there should be really amazing coverage come out of this event. This event, like all the other news listed above, is something for us to be excited about.

But please note, my wearing my curves has nothing to do with any kind of fashion rule or style secrets. I wear the clothing that feels great on my body. The clothing that makes me feel like a rockstar. I WILL experiment and try new things, but the basic principles of my fashion look is - do I (emphasis on "I") LOVE this. Do I feel great? Will THIS match my strut and make me feel like a million dollars all day?

That all being said, I know may people DO prefer styles that flatter or "hide" things. I know women that swear by "rules of fashion"... and really? Those women always looks great too. Fashion though, for me, is about feeling happy and comfortable and feminine and sexy. Follow rules, don't follow rules - JUST FEEL GREAT.

Whatever fashion is about for you, I HOPE ultimately, it is about YOU.

Meanwhile, someone emailed and asked what I weigh. I don't know for sure, so my answer is lots. More than some people, less than others. Possibly about average for a person who wears a size 20. I am 5'5" and a little bundle of fashionable fat, really. No bad thing.

From back in September, some of you will recall this photo of myself, with Anna Scholz after I visited her studio...

You will recall, also, that I had a lovely time last month telling you a lot about her latest collections. Well - the dress I'm wearing in this image is now available online, so I thought I'd love to let you know what it's like.

I LOVED this dress when I tried it with Anna. LOVED it. You know how sometimes you put something on and everything inside you screams YES!! This dress, for me, was like that.

And it's a funny thing. I've mentioned to you a lot recently, about how I've been re-trying clothes I would usually dismiss, or indeed, trying things I wouldn't usually - well, this dress is a little like that.

Animal Print!

ANIMAL PRINT is new for me.

I adore the abstract styling of the snake print on this dress and think the purple, taupe and white mix together and create something sexy, alluring and empowering.

This snake print totally charmed me! (I couldn't resist that pun).

This dress is made of lush jersey and the detailed ruching of this dress is just amazing. I put it on and it felt like a really soft glove. It fit like a dream, but wasn't clingy and I had room to move. I can't resist the tapering at the hem, the long sleeves and the sexy but discreet bust - all of it. I will wear this dress in the next couple of weeks, because I couldn't resist it - and it's living with me out in Budapest right now.

This post was actually inspired by an Anna Scholz email I got in the week featuring some of Anna's new prints... this aren't pieces I got to see when I went in to see Anna, and the pieces nearly blew my mind...

I am obsessed with Peacocks. I love Peacock statues, cards, prints and patterns. I think they're stunning and beautiful and effectively - I'm addicted to anything with a Peacock influence. I have to buy it...

City Chic post: A Quickie in Budapest!

It's such a strange thing. I am so reliant on my Mr. Darcy to help me blog. He takes all my photos and then helps me select everything. Hmm. I miss him a lot at the moment, He might deserve a post to acknowledge just what he helps me with here.

One Stop Plus UK: Tallissme Milano Knit Dress Review

When I was contacted by Brit Bloggers about reviewing an item for One Stop Plus UK, I was really excited. One Stop Plus UK is an online store that brings together a number of different plus size brands for women, in sizes 14-36. These brands include Carmakoma, La Redoute, Tallissme, Zizzi, Adidas and Sloggi - and there are also many, many more.

One of the great things about One Stop Plus is the price. Prices FOR an item are pretty "on par" with the item's price on it's "home site" but then there is also a big saving on shipping. The site also let's you access a range of brands and order in batches. Certainly worth a look!

Tallissme Milano Knit Dress

This heavy knit dress by Tallissme is lovely and is a great dress for Winter. In this review I'm wearing my regular size and as you can see, this is quite a lovely piece that would be perfect for work, or a classy night out. That being said, if you like things a little more floaty - go one size up... I rekon that thanks to the nature of the curve hugging design, you would still fit the piece in a larger size, but have a little more room to move.

Me? I like Body Con! And this is perfect!

One of the things that really appealed to me on first spotting this dress was the nature of it's colour blocking. I have a few bright colour block pieces and I love that this uses a current trend in a much more subtle way. I love the big panels of black and how well it works with the heavy grey and lighter brown colour.

The dress has a high neckline, long sleeves and sits just under my knee (I am 5'5"). The fit of the dress, as mentioned above, is quite clingy, so if you like a drape from your bust or a little floatiness - keep that in mind. I like this dress. The heavy knit offers a good shape and I feel really comfortable wearing this!

This is a great piece; snug, pretty and well-made. I rekon that if you threw on a pair of tights and a lovely jacket (short and fitted OR chic and full length) you would feel toasty and ready to combat winter.

Evans Collection: Change Room Reviews Continued...

One of the defining aspects of the latest Evans Collection is the attention Evans has paid to trousers. In my last Evans change room post I looked at the Collection's Rose Trousers. In today's post, I am going to give you the buzz on another pair of Collection trousers, a Collection skirt and a couple of Collection tops to boot. At the end, I have thrown in a dress from the wider Evans range.

Let's start with a top and pant combination from the Collection range...

Collection Wide Leg Trousers - £45.00

I LOVE these. Pretty much of everything I tried on, these really surprised me and were my favourites. You all know my aversion to Trousers... well - THESE have worked well to make me do a major rethink.

These are so comfortable. The Evans site describes them as "Super Wide Leg"... for me, what this means is that the drape is almost entirely from the hip. These are not pants that taper in, nor are they tailored to follow the line of your leg. The Evans Collection Wide Leg Trousers sit comfortably on your high hip, skim over your bottom and thighs and then fall, really beautifully and comfortably, to your feet. The feel of the material feels LOVELY on the skin and while I was a little iffy about the waist band, the elastic is comfortable yet secure. I LOVE how these sit and think the picture above shows the waist/hip line well.

These pants look fantastic and they made me feel great; the only reason I didn't buy them is because I have an anti-trouser situation in my head... I am very tempted though.

Collection Butterfly Kimono - £55.00

Hmm. This item, for me, is much better left OPEN. Undone, as you can see from the picture above, this Kimono Top looks kind of slinky. For me, doing this baby up isn't particularly functional - and it doesn't look particularly great:

This item is a weird one. I don't understand the construction. I understand the nature of a kimono, but as this top has been promoted tied up (right) - I wanted to share the reality... It doesn't quite work done up. It IS lovely, but the only thing you can use to fasten this top, is the silky high waist tie which matches the silky Kimono material. Let's just say all the silkiness creates a lot of slipperiness - so it doesn't quite hold tight.

Also, if like myself, you sport a lot of boobage, you really will need a singlet top under this one (done up or not).

I like the top and really adore the butterfly print, but if you want to wear it, it is better undone. It looks quite drapey and fashionable undone. If you do want to wear it done up - well as you can see, on a figure like mine, it looks boxy. I would also recommend that if you wear it done up you use a singlet top and safety pins to compliment the look.

I have tried this tunic on with the Wide Leg Trousers (from above) in this photo.

Collection Rose Tunic Top - £45.00

This is great. Floaty. Pretty. Ethereal. I put this tunic on and immediately liked it. I actually love its shape and movement, this is flowing and billowing and kind of sexy. The fabric is lovely and soft on the skin and I put this on and felt dreamy and light. This actually comes in the butterfly print from the Kimono Top, above, which would also be a lovely option. The little features on this piece are really lovely, I particularly adore the elastic arm bands with the little bow string ties, as well as the neckline.

Meanwhile...

Collection Pleat Skirt - £50.00

This is a fabulous skirt to wear and is comfortable. The elasticated waistline is simple and breathable and the high hip drape is lovely. As you can see from the image on the left (above), with the Rose Tunic tucked out, this skirt is especially lovely and the combination makes me look slightly taller thanks to all those long lines. I LIKE this look very much.

I think with my breasts, I need a heavier construction to make this look work. For me, high waisted dresses are seamless and look lovely, BUT those looks have been constructed for me... I'm not sure if it's my gazungas or just my lack of ability, but I rarely make a high waisted skirt / tucked in top combination work (you know who does - VAL from Blog To Be Alive, she nails that look).

The promo materials (left) do make this look work though... so let's take a more detailed look at me anyway, because I know some of you will need a little more info. Mind you, I think you can tell by the look on my face, I'm not sure I know what I am doing, here!

It IS pretty. BUT, it's not me. Maybe I needed to tuck the top out more? You can give me your thoughts on this one, if you like!

Now, one of my readers asked me to try on the Collection Pleat Trousers which are similar to this skirt. Unfortunately, I had taken these photos by the time that request came through. What I will say is that this skirt is lovely and the jersey material is supple and soft. Further from that, my two posts on the Evans Collection have BOTH featured trousers. I was completely impressed with both pairs.

I did take two other garments from the Collection Range into the change room... The Collection Stone Tunic Dress, which (in my usual size 20) I couldn't navigate over my boobs (although it was the right size, I was worried I would burst the beading) and the Collection Pleat Dress which was tight on my arms in the 18//20... Combined sizing irritates and frustrates me so I did not bother to try the piece in a size up. I HAVE heard from women who've bought the Collection Pleat Dress and LOVE it, so definitely keep it in mind!

And finally - from the wider Evans Range...

Spot Jersey Dress - £45.00

I picked this up on impulse on seeing it in-store. This is fabulous. I love the shape, the fabric is a nice soft jersey and the print is a refreshing take on a regular spot dress.

The construct of this dress is my favourite kind, with the drape coming from right under the bust at the empire-line waist. This dress is great for any bust size, really, but if you're like me and have a large chest, this dress accomodates them, but also - keeps them a little discreet, even with the cross-over neckline. The skirted area of the dress is slightly pleated and falls really lovingly down the curve of your hip, bottom and thigh.

I love this one and while I find it frustrating that Evans sizing seems to be heading more and more towards combination sizing (14/16, 18/20, 22/24 etc.) this was a great fit in the 18/20. Great fit comes down to great design and THIS is great design.

I am so chuffed that I have taken some time with Evans clothing lately. It has been a while and I certainly noticed in-store that things were looking good and there were some really lovely pieces to try.

The Evans Collection is an absolute delight. I enjoyed trying the clothes, wearing them and I liked LOOKING at myself in them. Go take a look.

Evans Collection: Change Room Post & Reviews...

There seems to be none or perhaps, just little fanfare from Evans at the moment. As a blogger and fashion girl, I have noticed little noise from Evans in recent months. Even the latest, Evans Collection, was released without any real bang...

I tell you though. It's flipping fabulous. So. I am gonna try and create a little of my own BANG for Evans, right here.

When the last Evans Collection was released some months ago, I couldn't see much in it for me... so I didn't go in and check it out, for me, it was a little bland. But not this time!

WOW oh WOW.

Black Belted Collection Faux Fur Coat - £120.00

This is beautiful! When I put this on, I felt so comfortable and warm and fashionable... immediately. This is one of those items, you can wear through Winter, with many different items underneath and feel chic and sexy EVERY time!

The large hook-eye closure on the jacket is a little fiddly so it took me a couple of goes to get right - and then keep done up... But, once done up, the included belt wraps around you to keep you snug and happy. I love the position of the belt too - that it allows for a high empire waist, encouraging the bottom of the coat to fall from your high hip. Love this one!

Collection Rouch Dress - £55.00

Oh my gosh. I mean WOW. This dress blows my mind. I put this on and felt fabulous, immediately. The fabric is a lovely soft jersey, the detailing is cute and creates a sexy, feminine "Pirates of the Caribbean" feel. This dress ticks a whole heap of boxes.

I adore the neckline, puffed shoulders, breast rouching and detail, as well as the loose sleeves which are banded at the wrist. The fall of this dress, from the high waist creates a lovely, soft shape. I would wear this to work or out with my friends on the weekend,and I am sure, with the right heels and jewelry (maybe in deep green or blue), this would look beautiful on a night out.

Evans is ABSOLUTELY on to a winner with this dress.

In the photo below I am simply in a change room. Effortless. Not even a smile. I felt beautiful.

Now from absolute glamour to, well... The next photo shows one of those outfits that was good for me in THEORY. I'm looking at this photo now and can see fab clothes but really little of my usual style. I really just bashed these pieces together to grab a photo in the change-room. I don't think these items quite go together, I look okay, if a little ditsy... so because I know this pairing doesn't quite work - I'll just nip STRAIGHT to talking about the pieces themselves!

Collection Rose Trousers - £55.00

These Rose Trousers are lovely... Do they feel a little like silky pajamas? Yes. Are the much more fashionable, better tailored and sexy to wear? Well YEAH. I thought I would hate these when I put them on, but no - I found them comfortable and sexy. The elasticated waist, is comfortable and wide, meaning the pant sits nicely and the waist doesn't cut into your torso. The drape of the pant from just below the waist line (in the low hip area) is well slung and falls well, creating a lovely smooth shape... you can KIND of see these line distinctions in my photo above... the waist band cuts to the leg drape around my mid-crotch area from an attractive u line.

I left my leggings on under these pants and the wide leg fit means that in Winter, you WILL be able to layer them. This means you can look slinky - but not suffer due to how light the fabric is.

Collection Cropped Cardigan - £35.00

This cardigan, for me, isn't quite there. I wish Evans had had a white singlet top for me to wear under this so I could've tried the cardigan open...

Now, done all the way up, this cardigan made my F-Cups look like Gazungas, so I unbuttoned the top couple of buttons. It's okay. I imagine some of you will make this look amazing either done up OR with something subtle and slinky underneath - but to me, this is a tad bland. The construction of the knit is comfortable but not thick (unlike the Beth Ditto Collection Heart Cardi which was amazing).

I do like the colour of this Collection Cardi and the texture does feel nice on the skin. I do want to give props to Evans for a cardi that DOES do up pretty well over my large bust. There was a little pull in the buttons, but nothing to fret (too much) about. ALL in all - a decent piece and I think it would have done better with me, if I'd been able to access a white singlet top to try it with, in-store.

This change room post was really enjoyable. I really like what Evans has done in their current Collection and was surprised by how nice every one of the garments looked and felt on my skin. I have tried a few more items from the Evans Collection and will post again towards the end of the week to share the rest of them with you. For me, this Collection is pretty special. I really think that it is worth you taking a look at.

Elena Miro's Milan Catwalk Spring Summer 2012

I always enjoy showcasing the latest from Elena Miro. In Milan the other week the Elena Miro Collection stormed the Milan fashion catwalks and was a flourish of red, pink, silver, bronze and gold (with a little black and white for good measure).

All these pictures are reproduced via Elle Online so that I could show you more of the beautiful plus-size fashions available by High End designers - if you want to see even more (and there are MANY more pieces) just head across to Elle!

Black and White

(Classic Elegance).

One of the main prints Elena Miro is using in the current collection makes it look like there are petals floating across the fabric! I like these first two pieces as they take simple concepts (stripes, dots, sparkle) and blend them.

I love the elegance on show!

Pink and Red

(My absolute favourites).

This dress above, took my breath away. I like the look of the construction, the flowing fabric and the colours. Such colours! The one below is the same kind of breath taker! I adore boldness in fashion and not shying away from the beauty in colour. I LOVE these pieces!

This next dress isn't one I would wear myself, but is totally stunning. I love the vibrant energy of this...

The following dress is an example of what I meant about Petals seeming to float across the fabric. We can see the flowers on the top, while the skirt here seems a mess of petals and flowers in the wind. So lovely!

Bronze and Gold

(Make a Statement)

The dresses below in Golden and Broze fabrics from Elena Miro all seem like such statement pieces. There are some which were shown on the catwalk that could easily form part of a very stylish wardrobe, also... but the pieces I want to share - my favourites - all seem to make a statement.

Look at me... I AM FIERCE!

You all know how much I love fashion. You all know how I love colour and print and construction and care. I have never worn Elena Miro, but I always like to showcase pieces from the Milan show. It is important for us to know, that as plus size and curvy women - we are not constrained within boxes or fashion rules. Things are exciting for us, fashion wise.

Asos Curve Keep Post: Playsuit.

This is not a bad garment. It isn't a keeper though, so I'm not glamming it up and making it wild for you... Like my last ASOS post, I am trying this garment to see if I keep it, rather than putting it on to style and wear out (like I did here). I actually think I may start to do that sometimes...

This is the ASOS Curve Exclusive Playsuit In 40s Floral Print - RRP: £40.

I don't mind this... On sizing, there is a little too much room in the bust, and if I kept it, I would need to pin the cross-over section of fabric across my chest (I believe in the power of safety pins and so, am fine doing this). The fit across my bum and back is fine and there is a smidge of pull on the side of my hip. My roomy thighs have lots of room, and the fit on my arm is lovely. As you can see, there is a hint of belly at the front, but not bad. I adore the pattern and I love the fabric. Both are delightful, actually. I also think that just putting this Playsuit on, has sort of brought me round to the notion of Playsuits. This is a very pretty concept and it would look really perfect if the fit was a little better on me.

I know loads of girls have vented about the fit at ASOS lately. Last night - at the end of my last ASOS Curve post (which ASOS has read), Marie Denee asked me what I think the issue is... it MUST be fit model. Very publicly, a while back, ASOS called for curvy girls in the size 20 garment range to put up their hands and apply to be the fit model. I have no doubt that ASOS is aware there is a problem and are seeking to rectify it. Indeed, they are doing a "group call" trouser fit session in London, just next week (for ALL sizes they offer, not just Curve).

Two gorgeous women have recently written both here and on Facebook saying that they've had some great fitting clothes delivered by ASOS Curve lately; this is fab news. This playsuit isn't too bad, perhaps it just isn't for me.

Fingers crossed, things keep getting better... certainly with dresses like this ASOS Curve Lace Dress with Long Sleeves - (seen here, in RED) there is certainly stuff to keep buying!

Anna Scholz Black Label Reviews AW 11-12 concludes! x.

This has been an amazing month. I LOVE sharing Anna Scholz fashion with you. It is lovely to be able to talk to a designer about her clothes and then have her let me "showcase" them on my blog. I am just a normal female, like most of you (ha ha, hello to any male readers!). I like that I can try all these pieces, talk about them and share how they feel on my skin, as well as how they make me feel. I bought a couple of pieces from the ones I've tried, but apart from those couple - it all gets packed up and sent back to Anna. That is such a sad day for me... giving up the beautiful fashions! I LOVE the beautiful fashions.

When I try the clothes, I try to look nice, but effectively, for me it is about the clothes doing the talking... they say a lot.

Wool Colour Block Swing Coat - £299.00

I have read loads of feedback on Anna's facebook page from people wanting this Coat. It is lovely and warm and fashionable and snug!

The button-down front consists of "popper" buttons and the cute bow adds a sweet little feature at the front. You can't quite see clearly by the way I am standing, but the Coat (on my 5'5" frame) hits on my knee and sits in a lovely swingy A-line. I like the retro feel of this coat.

Another perfect thing for me about this coat? It's interesting. I LOVE that it isn't just black, I love the grey colour block which adds style to the piece. The design of the colours on this coat feels very modern, but also has a lovely mod feel. This is the kind of coat you could wear every day, or on a Winter night out. Thanks to the beautiful simplicity in the colour lines - this would work with a black dress, colour block look or glaring prints underneath!

The make up of this coat sees it consist of 50% wool which means it will be LOVELY and warm in Winter, the lining feels lush on your skin and the pockets are lovely and warm.

Such a smart coat.

Anna Scholz Black Label Drawstring Cardi

I'm a bit of a stubborn mule when it comes to cardigans... I wear them short. I often actually look at other bloggers or plus size women on the street and feel curious about how they seem to nail longline cardigans. Like the shirt dress I tried in the last post - they are something I rarely even try these days... such a fool!

This Drawstring Cardi by Anna Scholz is so soft and comfortable on the skin... it is easy on and felt lovely to wear. This specific cardi has gorgeous silver beads all over it, meaning it could easily glam up every day wear, or look sleek on top of a slinky dress.

You can see from the pictures I have worn it with my own cami, shorts and tights - so simple. And it works.

This cardigan has a drawstring at the front which allows you to wear it long (to the knee), or cinch it up as high as the neck line if you want. This is a clever garment - it will allow you to try shapes which makes it wonderful and versatile. The drawstring can also alter the look of the garment as it ruches the fabric together. Just lovely.

While I can't see this lovely cardi available on the Anna Scholz site right now - there are some other silk drawstring cardis in the Black Label Collection in Blush, Lime and Grey which are online for you to look at!

Jersey Pleat Dress - £189

Okay. Okay. I admit it. I am SO BEYOND TOTALLY BIASED for this dress. Last season, I tried Anna's Jersey Digital Print Pleat Dress and had to have it. I was so excited to try this current style, with it's leopard print in red, black, white and grey colouring.

This dress has an asymmetrical neckline which is sexy and interesting. To be honest - this is one of the dresses you put on and think - I couldn't feel more like a WOMAN right now. Sexy, empowering, strong and confident are all things I feel when I put this on. This dress will hold your body in such a fabulous way. There is an off-centre line that runs from the asymmetrical neck down to the hem line - this is a serious design feature! Side pleating gathers into this line creating such a stunning shape that feels like it elongates your body. There is a centre line at the back of the dress that has this effect also. The clever, sexy tailoring of this dress creates a shape and feel that inspires confidence. It makes me feel EFFORTLESSLY beautiful.

I mentioned in a previous post that I adore the Anna Scholz Jersey Fabric. This stunning dress is created from that same Jersey fabric, so for me - again - this is a massive draw.

I can not emphasise enough how much I love this dress. The shape, fabric, style and print ALL appeal to me. I bet all of you could totally rock this one.

Truly. You would ROCK IT.

Ponte Jersey Frill Shift Tunic - £169

I don't own many straight down the line tunics. I think many of you know, I am partial to quite a heavy structure through my dresses and clothing. Lately, I have enjoyed clothes which are a little more flowy and roomy. I think it's working in the West End. The tube is a killer for heat and I like to feel a little more movement through my clothes at the moment.

Just like the Anna Scholz Cape Coat that I tried in the last post, the Ponte Jersey Frill Shift Tunic is a gorgeous, bright red. Red is such a stunning colour and through autumn and winter it will look just fab as the skies turn grey and people get out their black coats.

As soon as I put this tunic on, I felt its immediate Ponte Jersey warmth! It was nice - not toasty, just warm and comforting. I like the drape from my chest and specifically enjoy how this garment just skims off my breast and then flows down my body. I could easily layer thermal underwear with this tunic OR belt it OR throw on a jacket... This is versatile!

The detailing on the neckline and cuffs is also pretty adorable and because the detailing is the same fabric as the body of the tunic, it kind of blends really well and then POPs to life as you get closer to the garment. Beautiful!

Print Crepe Jersey Belted Shirt Dress - £139

This shirt dress... honestly? I can rarely stand to try a shirt dress. It's the buttons. I feel like clothing that's done up over my breasts (42F and supported fabulously by the Gok Wan Banger Booster) will pop open and I'll be some sort of busty pirate wench...

NOT the case, here!

I am thrilled to report that for the first time in a LONG LONG time I have found the shirt dress to reboot my frame of mind. I put this dress on and looked at myself. In my USUAL size 20 - there was no pull across the bust, no strain on the buttons, no threat of popping... just a perfectly closed shirt dress, and there were my boobs, covered and safe, under a shirt dress that fit - just as it SHOULD.

WOOOOOT WOOOOO!

My Mr. Darcy was like, "Buy It".

I love this. My new found love of shirt dresses aside, I like the shape created thanks to the waist-high belt, I like the 3/4 sleeves and I particularly enjoy the playful, yet strangely intriguing beetle pattern.

The material is crepe jersey meaning the garment floats on your skin, but is also soft and has a little stretch in it. So, SO comfortable.

This one really surprised me. I really thought that because of past experiences with shirt dresses, that I'd put this on and dismiss it. I was wrong. Anna Scholz has nailed this dress and style. AND it just goes to show me: as a fashion lover AND as a consumer, that trying new things every now and again - or indeed REtrying things previously dismissed, is well worth it.

I love this one.

Last week, I was invited to the Anna Scholz studios to see some of the latest styles, meet her (AMAZING) team and chat about clothes and fashion.

The Anna Scholz Studios are light and airy. I felt so excited to be invited along and lucky to be able to try the Current Black Label Collection. I sat and chatted to Anna for a while and enjoyed our easy conversation. Anna LOVES fashion and clothes... We talked about current trends and styles, as well as her upcoming direction. I caught a sneak peek of her upcoming collections for Spring Summer 2012 and loved the vibrant tones and stunning designs. Anna loves Colour and Prints and seriously, the collections she creates - which combine rich blacks and block colours with diverse print choices, are amazing. I met Anna's fantastic team - a group of people who are dedicated and love what they do. Such a treat.

I always talk to you about how well fitting I find the clothes from Anna... well, I learnt more about the tailoring process, as well as how seriously they take fit sessions at Anna Scholz. The fit model is a size 18 and they work and work and work to ensure a great fit. It works!

Today and in a couple of posts over the coming weeks, I will look at more from the Black Label Collection. This Collection is beautiful and I am sure one of the reasons I get invited to try these clothes is so that the shapes can be seen on my plus size body... So let's get started.

Ponte Jersey Colour-Block Zip Back Dress - £159

When I put this dress on, I had to look at myself in the mirror a BUNCH of times. The black side panels of this dress, teamed with the spotted centre panel nip in at the waist and then follow the curve of your hip and leg down the line of your body. This dress made me pay real attention to my shape and I was surprised by how much the dress gave me a really smooth sleek-looking figure.

The ponte jersey material of this dress is lovely and thick while still feeling soft on the skin. This is a dress you can wear and feel confident in... it will keep shape well... the fabric and tailoring ensure it!

This is one of those "it" dresses you could buy for winter and wear on a gorgeous night out, but also wear for a "power day" at work. I found this garment really empowering and I like that it could be worn, subtly and sexily on a "normal life" day too - just to give you that extra "I'm awesome and sexy and female" kick. This is a really great dress and certainly - worth looking at very seriously!

Wool Cape Coat - £299

I adore this. I have NEVER tried a cape on my body and have often looked at stores or blogs with Capes and thought - I wonder how I might look in one of those.

Well... in this Bright Red Black Label version - I'm going to say - I look pretty amazing. As you can see - even in this size 22 (which was the size I picked up, usually I am a 20) - this Coat is beautiful, tailored well and just such a stunning colour.

This coat is luxurious. The lining of the Cape is amazing and soft and I LOVE that it's the same vibrant red as the wool exterior. I put this on and felt warmth but also enjoyed the movement through the piece. The swing nature of this jacket is cinched in at the front by the belt which creates a lovely feminine shape.

I am very tempted to buy this Wool Cape Coat. It feels warm and pretty on my body, but is also unlike anything I own... I can just imagine this over my dresses in Winter keeping me warm but still allowing me lots of movement. Argh! Why are clothes so pretty and wonderful!!!

Simply Be Stores launching THIS WEEK...

This week, I was invited to attend the Liverpool Store opening of Simply Be. Due to work (and living in London!), I am unable to get up there for the day. Although I am jealous of all you gorgeous Liverpudlians.

Because why? Well...

At 1pm, on Friday the 23rd of September, Simply Be's FIRST EVER STORE opens in the Liverpool One Shopping Centre at 1pm. Seriously. Get there. Simply Be Fashions - available for you to TRY and then BUY. This is SO exciting.

Meanwhile, in Bury on the 7th October, you have your very OWN store opening at The Rock Shopping Centre.

Alan White, the CEO of N Brown (parent company to Simply Be) has stated...

"We wanted to have our first stores in the North West because all our managers and distributors are in the North West, so we can give the stores a lot of close attention. We want to open two or maybe three stores in September or October this year, then three or four next spring. Then we’ll evaluate it in 2012.*"

This is such a fabulous week for plus fashion. It is amazing that another High Street retailer will exist, specifically aimed at plus-size women and fashion... So many of my readers from Australia come across to the UK and lament the fact that there aren't actually that many stores for them to walk into and buy clothes... Simply Be, in opening stores, is committing to another side of their business... In the last year, they have opened "online" in the States and clearly, from what Alan White has said above, there is a strong commitment to open more stores here in the UK. Simply Be is one of my favourite places to shop... It is where I have got some of my favourite dresses (like the one pictured), most loved bras, sexy lingerie, gym gear and even winter boots. How exciting to think a store will open on Friday in Liverpool - or indeed, more stores will open in the future.

Anna Scholz Autumn Winter 2011-2012 Reviews... Part THREE!

Double Silk Colour Block Panel Dress - £339.00

Okay. I love this... Anna has gone ahead, with her Double Silk Colour Black Panel Dress and created something which allows for a silhouette of black, matched with neck, cuff and hemline flourish!

This dress is pretty and absolutely feminine.

This is a gorgeous, floaty garment that is light and comfortable. The dress has a subtler print block style than many of Anna's clothes - but still maintains innovation and colour, mixed with the cut and drape I always rave about!

The structure of this dress is relatively simple with a self-tie back affording structure. The sleeves are lovely and long for the colder months and the slight pleating at the top of the cleavage give the dress a beautiful and natural fall down the front of your body.

You can see, in taking these photos, I have left my hair very simple, with a high silver necklace the only thing complimenting this look. This dress - with its beautiful blocks of print against rich black does a lot on its own to look elegant and beautiful - while still being edgy.

If you haven't tried Anna Scholz before, this would be a great garment to start with. The dress is great for movement and allows you to indulge in Anna's stylish prints, with a hint of subtlety thrown in. I love Anna's shapes and while I will almost always err towards a more figure hugging choice, my Anna Scholz tunic, with its simple, high, elasticated waist - is perfect for days when I want a hint of form along with a more loose fitting, flowy look... I think this dress would also be absolutely perfect for those days.

Style AND movement? YES Please!

Double Silk Corset Dress - £369.00

I almost just want to post pictures and say - this speaks for itself.

This dress is the epitome of class and feminine structure. Talk about gorgeous.

The Double Silk fabric fits perfectly to your body while still being ultra comfortable. I love the sweetheart neck, high empire line and 3/4 sleeves for winter. As ever, Anna Scholz's amazing tailoring is at work with side pleating to the high-hip line - this creates a shape that will make you look at yourself in this dress, and go WOW. Seriously.

WOW.

Apart from myself and the model on the site, I have seen this dress on a couple of other people now. It is stunning and works for a variety of shapes... I mentioned in my post last week, that for me, this is a really striking, beautiful print - you can see, it looks killer!

And so does the dress...

You know, I get excited by being able to do these posts. It is no small thing, that I get to review these pieces and talk about them with you. One of the reasons I rave so easily about the Anna Scholz dresses is because they are so well crafted - these dresses represent the kind of care all plus-size designers and retailers should take when considering us and making garments for us.

ASOS Curve: Pussy Bow, Godet & Bow Collar Knitted Dress...

About a month ago, I ordered a few dresses from ASOS Curve and raved on this blog about one of those dresses: The Asos Curve Lace Waisted Dress...

Love Love Love.

At the same time as buying that lace dress, I bought a couple of others, which are now on sale; The Fan Print Tea Dress (too big and billowy) and the Summer Floral Dress (too tight in the chest)... At the time, I wondered about the difference in sizing, but let it go...

So. Erratic sizing. Asos Curve.

This week, I bought three dresses from Asos using the Fashion Week Code "happylfw" - all of them are going back. I have never bought dresses before, rejected them and the posted them here on my blog... BUT, due to the fact that I think there's a bit of a tailoring issue and we ladies can't try these clothes before we buy them, I've decided to post them.

Asos Curve Printed Dress with Pussy Bow - £55.00

I really like this dress and on the site it looks stunning on the model... unfortunately for me, it doesn't quite fit. It LOOKS like it fits okay in the picture, but it pulls uncomfortably across my chest. This is really unfortunate, especially since I should fit this size perfectly. That being said, the material is light and floaty, the high-waist is in the right spot and the neckline and pattern are really cute!

I am sure that quite a few of you will look gorgeous in this Print Dress with its Pussy Bow and wish desperately my breasts fit the cut of the dress.

Asos Curve 40s Godet Jersey Dress - £35.00

I don't even know what to say. This is seriously one of the ugliest, most poorly fitting dresses I have worn in a long time. The very definition of Fat Lady Tent Wear - REALISED. I understand that sometimes a look needs work. HOWEVER, I inherently believe that clothing should fit from the get go. The chest is all wrong, the waist is sitting in an awkward location and there is nothing particularly pretty about any of this. I would never usually post a dress I dislike this much, but, something is up with this little number. If you own it, let me know. I would love to see how this works on other women. And if it works, does it work because it fits naturally? Or have you had to tailor it for your own shape? I am VERY interested!

Finally - I do appreciate that some of you may think this looks nice, but, because I think the "Godet Dress" looks bland, it is destined for Return.

Asos Curve Bow Collar Knitted Dress - £35.00

This last dress is litreally a BEAUTIFUL colour. I took it out of the bag and was in awe of how vibrant the blue is. Style wise - I find that the waist and neckline aren't right on me. I have a real issue with the waist, to be honest, the slight cinching does little for the shape of the dress and it feels more like an afterthought than a structured feature.

I find the dress droops to a waist line off the curve of my breast. I tried it with a belt, which improves it greatly...

I feel that with a belt this dress becomes a much nicer garment as regards both fit and style. The knit fabric is lovely and would be well worth your trying - it may fit you like a glove! It might just be awkward on me!

I am a big fan of ASOS Curve... I think the retailer does an amazing job at creating clothing for us which is interesting and pushes a few boundries as regards what's available for plus-size women. In fact - for the most part, the designers do a fabulous job. Lately, I have been a little disappointed. While quality remains high, the cut, tailoring and shape of the garments seems a little inconsistent at the moment and slightly slap dash. I am sure many of you Curvettes have opinions on this and I am curious for your take... so tell me?

Anna Scholz Autumn Winter 2011-2012 Reviews... Part TWO!

I am so excited by this post. Excited, because I am going to talk about one of the most stunning dresses I have ever worn...

AND - Excited, because I am going to share ANOTHER stunning dress with you, the one I just HAD to own!

You all know the Anna Scholz White Label Double Silk Cowl Neck Dress, in the Check Print. This is what I would almost classify as THE DRESS of the current collection. Model, Tanya Gervasi looks completely stunning in this dress as part of the "La Dolce Vita" campaign and her image has been displayed on many websites, helping to solidify the dress as a defining Autumn-Winter, White Label garment.

I had to request this dress to try... I rarely wear such full length dresses, or indeed similarly high (or indeed cowl) necklines, but - I had to see if I would look good in this dress... I wanted to know if my body would work in such a definitive piece.

It certainly does...

Double Silk Cowl Neck Dress - £369

This dress is designed for beautiful, natural curves. I am wearing a UK size 22 in these photos and you can see my body looks absolutely gorgeous, with a defined breast, waist and hip line. This is an amazingly comfortable garment too... when I put it on, it immediately felt good and right and feminine.

I love that this dress has such a beautiful shape, the slightly ruched 3/4 length sleeves are lovely and for a little extra warmth through Winter, this dress could easily be worn with a layer of thermal underwear and beautifully tailored jacket. The shape of this garment sees the dress fall with off centre pleating from the high waist line, skimming the hip and then draping beautifully down the leg.

In looking at these photos, I am still gobsmacked by how pretty this Cowl Neck Dress is. I felt lovely in the double silk fabric and it also made me feel confident and held... That may seem like a funny word, held. But what I mean, is that I felt like this dress was made specifically for me - as opposed to being made for plus-size women, generally. I felt like this dress was literally made to hold on to MY body - it feels unique and special and designed with my curves in mind. That's amazing and it says loads about how Anna designs.

Wow.

Digital Jersey 3/4 Sleeve V-Dress - £245

Before I even managed to get my little paws on this dress, I knew it was going to be something special. The pattern of this V-Dress, defined as "stained-glass" on the Anna Scholz website absolutely took my breath away - online and in person... I adore the muddied colours and to me, it looks almost like a jewel colour painting that someone has spilled water across. I adore this.

This dress has an amazing shape, with pleats from the hip and across the breast, as well as a thick, high empire line which cuts into a tulip style skirt. The shape AND drape of this dress completely wooed me, and I had to buy it. You can see the neck line is a beautiful, slight cross-over v-shape and the skirt runs to just below my knee (I am 5'5").

I put this on and felt sexy. Feminine. READY for the world.

My OTHER draw for this dress was the fabric. I swear... all the good people at Anna Scholz have to do is say "Jersey" and I am there. Anna's Jersey material is of such a high quality, it feels soft and supple against the skin. I seriously love this fabric and I think it works so well for my (or your!!) plus sized figure.

In this dress, I opted to review a size 20 which I then ended up buying. I LOVE this one. x.

White Label Double Silk Frill Tunic - £349

It is always a really special time here on the Boombands Blog, when I have my Anna Scholz weeks. Many of you are aware of the fact that Anna is my favourite high-end designer and that I love the innovative looks, prints and cuts she gives us - CONSISTENTLY with each new collection. These Anna Scholz previews are always a little dangerous for me too. I always fall in love with the pieces I am sent to review so returning them is HARD... Too hard! I'll show you why!

White Label Double Silk Frill Tunic - £349

I was really looking forward to trying this item, last season when I tried the Digital Tunic, I was TRANSFIXED. I am so pleased that this season, the Double Silk Frill Tunic has taken my breath away.

Firstly though, as regards this collection - I have to mention the prints. I love Anna Scholz. I love the fact that she embraces and GIVES us interesting, vibrant and sexy prints. I love that her collections give us options for block colour, but also - and possibly MOST wonderfully - creates a situation where, as plus-size women, we can choose blues and pinks and oranges and purples that Anna has specifically worked at creating for our bodies. THIS was my favourite print when I saw it online. I loved the colours and how well the blues and oranges worked together. In real life, this print is JUST as vibrant as I wanted it to be.

The Double Silk Frill Tunic is light and floaty. Before Anna, I had never really worn tunics, I was unsure of how the shape would work for me, but she does this so well - I ADORE the empire line waist which is nipped in with a little line of elastic, it affords looseness but also shape - the neckline is both flattering and sexy and I love how loose the sleeves are. Looking through my photos, I can see how easily I could kick this up a gear with a thick black belt and some heavier eye makeup... That being said, I'm sure you can see from my photos that the colour, shape and vibrancy of this dress really works all on its own!

Digital Jersery T-Shirt Maxi Dress - £229

When I picked this item, I picked it for two reasons. Firstly, I thought it looked stunning on the model... Secondly. Well. I was curious. I have never worn anything like this dress, so I was really curious to see how it might suit my body and whether I could pull off the shape, cut and style. It really is lovely.

This dress is made of Anna's luxurious jersey material. I have several dresses (by Anna) in this fabric and I am always struck by how soft it feels on the skin. It is also a LOVING fabric... it holds your curves, but has generous movement to it. When I put this dress on, it was clear that it would be compatible with many different shapes thanks to the self tie belt that comes with it, as well as the stretch in the material.

This T-Shirt Maxi is actually a perfect Autumn/Winter dress thanks to the warm colours, maxi length, 3/4 length sleeves and high(ish) round neckline.

I never wear shapes like this. I've mentioned before how I love structure... but I appreciate the detailing here - how a simple belt can afford me structure. The neckline is also a smidge higher than I am used to - but it is flattering and would be lovely and warming through the season.

One final important detail about this dress: It is comfortable. Really comfortable. I don't wear t-shirts or tops too often, but when I put this on I was struck by how this garment is defined as a T-SHIRT Maxi dress... It felt soft and lush on my skin; REALLY comfortable and as Winter approaches, I can see that it would feel soft and deliciously warming under a coat, with a pair of tights and nice black heels.

A question of confidence...

I get waxed. I love to get waxed. I have always loved it. I love the process, I love the feeling, I love the result and I mostly love how aftwerwards I feel all pampered. Truth be told? For me, waxing is a major stress release.

That all being said, waxing, is what I like. I know some ladies don't like waxing, or indeed shaving. But - for the sake of conversation in starting this post - it is relevant that I like getting waxed (and before anyone asks - when I get waxed, it is something I do for myself).

A few weeks ago I was chatting to one of my good friends about the fact I wanted to get waxed but didn't feel I had any time. She asked me, where I go - so I told her... (to London's best Salon - Strip. Seriously - it is amazing). My friend, told me she doesn't wax... I asked her if she'd ever wanted to try it and she told me, yes, but that she didn't feel comfortable...

Me:

That's fair enough. But you know, if you did ever want to try it, you could just get a little bit done to see how you feel. Like, maybe the lower half of your leg... below the knee, or your eyebrows! You don't have to get your bikini line done...

She:

It's not that. It's not about my bikini line or them seeing my girlie bits. Or the pain. It's my thighs. What will they think of my thighs?

My friend, who I was talking to - is a size 12. Her leggy-pegs are much smaller than my size 18-20 pins. That being said, what she said, struck me.

Body confidence is such an important thing ladies. Feeling OKAY about your body, or even LOVING it - as well as liking your personality is like LIFE MAGIC.

Body confidence is not something that came to me easily - I was very lucky though, in that I did have a good start... I grew up in a very loving environment where we were all taught we were beautiful and okay in our different bodies - indeed, with five kids - we were ALL different shapes and sizes... BUT positive start aside, like may of you, I did still struggle with myself and my image for quite a few years. Body confidence and the struggle to have body confidence is not something unique to plus size people - in fact, I think most people - at some stage - struggle with image.

An image from when I started blogging. It was not easy! And many of my photos were taken without me looking at the camera as I felt so shy. My blog has affirmed me... Thanks to YOUR positive feedback. x.

If you are someone who struggles with body confidence at the moment, all I can say is that you are not alone. These days, I personally feel good in my skin, but as your friend and as a fashion blogger, I want you to know, I do know how you feel if you don't feel so confident.

I hope that if you are struggling, you find confidence in the plus-size blogs you read and clothes that are available for you to buy. I personally believe in my personality and in my heart and I think both of those things helped me realise that I am okay as a size 20. There were moments as a younger woman where I wished for a smaller figure, but, that seemed to melt away as I realised I am allowed to feel good about myself. I am healthy and happy and I have a nice body that lets me do a bunch of stuff, like walk everywhere and wear fancy clothes and enjoy delicious foods. I LIKE my body - it lets me enjoy perfect snuggles(!) with Mr. Darcy, hug my friends and it helps me catch my nephew when he runs all about.

I wrote a post a while back about body confidence and contextualising ugly days... I wrote about how even now - when I feel really great in my skin and happy and confident (almost 100% of the time) - I can still have bad days. We can all have bad days.

I DO hope that if you are one of the people who has very few days where you feel good about yourself, you can cut yourself a break. I think people are beautiful. Really beautiful. And I am sure you are too. I would also go odds on, that if you are having confidence woes, you are much harder on yourself than anyone else will ever be. Because I am confident, actually, that YOU ARE beautiful.

Now. I have a blog recommendation for you on this exact theme. One of my good friends, Danimezza has done one of the bravest things a girl could ever do. Ever. She has shown a confidence that I'm not sure that even I could achieve. Danimezza is a size 20. She is body confident and she has just posed NAKED in a national magazine. It is amazing, inspiring and I reccomend you get to her site and take a look.

ASOS Curve Lace Waisted Dress Review.

I am in LOVE with the ASOS Curve Lace Waisted Dress. I must say - I LOVED this dress on release a couple of months ago and was SO tempted to buy it immediately... BUT - ASOS have killer sales. They always do. ASOS moves items to clearance pretty quickly and then, very often, throw an EXTRA discount code on to boot (right now the ASOS discount code is EXTRA20 which gives an extra 20% off clearance... I have also heard it is working when you combine clearance items with full priced ones...).

In any case - I bought THREE of the ASOS Curve Lace Dresses. Yes. I love them. So, I bought THREE.

To be honest, I bought the dress in RUST colour first and when I pulled it out of the plastic, I was very skeptical. I thought it looked like something a fashionable mother might wear to a wedding... THEN, I put it on. It feels GREAT. The lining is soft cotton and the lace overlay is really gentle and smooth on the skin - no scratchiness. I was worried about fit, but thanks to the banding around the waist, it gives a lovely shape and curves smoothly around my breasts, before skimming over my waist (it isn't clingy) and then floating over my hip. The rust colour is also absolutely divine.

In fact, the rust colour is so divine, I bought another to store away for loving once the first is worn. I plan to wear it a lot!

Now. I did try the dress with a belt - but for me... the shape of the dress works on its own.

Hmm. I also bought the dress in the other available colour - Coral. I have taken the shot below under the same light and circumstances as the "Rust" shot above so you can get a fair idea of colour difference.

Now. This is nice. BUT - I DO feel a bit of a watermelon in this brightness! I prefer the rust. I'll WEAR the coral too, but probably not quite as often. At all.

Mind you... still pretty!

Thank Goodness I met you, Wedge Welly Curve, before winter starts.

I am so impressed.

Recently, I was sent a pair of Wedge Welly Curve Boots to review. I tell you, I nearly had to squirrel them away and hide them from the courier - because having to return them this morning was HARD.

I LOVE these boots. I almost don't want to write anything else.

But here goes.

I wear a size 7EEE shoe usually. I had a pair of size 7 CURVE style Wedge Wellys sent to me to try and I tell you, they fit like a dream. They fit my foot - AND they fit my calf. I have NEVER had a pair of Wellington Boots fit my calf. Indeed, I have bought two pairs of Wellys in the last few years and for BOTH pairs, I have had to cut the boot from just above my ankle so that they fit me properly. These were comfortable, fit OVER tights and there was plenty of room for my wide feet.

The comfort of these Wellingtons is also really amazing. The shoe is cushioned and your foot feels supported. I actually wondered how I would go with the WEDGE and I think the shoe actually works far more comfortably and naturally than a normal Wellington thanks to the curve of the base and how well it works with the natural contour of your foot. These shoes are easy to walk in and feel really natural.

I love how fashionable these Wellys are. I admit it. In Winter, more than once, I have thought how nice it would be to have really lovely pair of Welly's to wear to work. ESPECIALLY since my lovely leather boots could do with a break on those really torrential days. THESE are the Wellys I need. These are fashionable. The ones I tried came in a crocodile leather print (and are awesomely named MAN EATER) but they also come in plain black as well as black with a smudged pink design. I like that they look good, HAVE a heel and CAN pass as fashionable street/work wear. These are Wellingtons you can wear to festivals - but could ALSO wear on a day or even NIGHT out.

Wedge Welly has a UNIQUE range based in "normal" foot sizing as well as a FLEX range for wider calves. I am so impressed that the company makes a CURVE range for wider feet and calves and I think it it innovative in design as well us right up there for comfort and style.

Pin her or Pad her? A Plus-Size Model Dilemma.

Plus Model Marquita Pring. STUNNING!

Hi. Got any fatter?

I think I'm not the only blogger who has, in the last twelve months RAVED about plus models. They are stunners. Bree Warren, Laura Wells, Tanya Gervasi, Tara Lynn, Justine Legault, Fluvia, Mia Amber, Lizzie Miller - I could go on and on. GORGEOUS.

So. Many of us have RAVED about these gorgeous plus-size models... but also, many of us have lamented the size of many of the models selling us plus size clothes. I'm talking about the gorgeous size 8 to 14 girls who often model for ASOS or Evans or the like. It is a practice I have had to come to grips with - I've previously asked on this blog why we have to endure women modeling clothes they couldn't actually fit into (Crystal Renn may have signed a two year modeling deal with Evans a few years ago, but as that contract ended she really was too small to be showcasing those clothes... I love her - but defy anyone to tell me that last statement isn't even just a little bit accurate).

Crystal Renn and Models for Evans. We can tell, they ain't size 20s. But heck, they are pinned WELL.

To be honest, I came to grips with most of that - Size 8s - 14s modeling larger clothes... It was something Christina from Musings tweeted - she said she didn't care what size the models were, so long as the clothing was pinned properly. I thought about this a lot after she tweeted it - and saw a lot of sense in it. I figured - well, at least they are shaping the girls the right way and making their bodies and our plus-size clothes work together.

A while back I lamented about this particular issue specifically as regards ASOS CURVE. I had exchanges with ASOS directly about this and although (at that time) didn't feel completely satisfied with their answers, I did at least get them. Now, honestly? The ASOS models take my breath away. MAYBE concerns previously raised by myself and others have had an influence in ensuring the ASOS Curve models are actually wearing the clothes (as opposed to the clothes billowing on them) or maybe ASOS just thought "we can pin this a little better"... They have done a good job and the overall model shots of the ASOS Curve range are pretty gorgeous.

In my discussions with ASOS, one of their reps mentioned the fact that some plus models have been required in their work life to wear "fat suits" to make them wider and fill out clothes more. NOT at ASOS - ever or at all, but in some magazine shoots and on occasion for other retailers. At the time, I thought ASOS was deflecting and I didn't think too much of it. Until this weekend when I read the following article in The Sunday Times...

And it made me ask - What cost, this desire for plus size models?

The plus-size model's little secret: a fat suit by Rosie Kinchen

Christina Hendricks has helped "popularise" curves in mainstream thought.

SKINNY is out and curves are in but in the world of fashion nothing is quite as it seems.

Fashion's latest trend for curvier women may have given models the all-clear to move up a dress size or two, but rather than putting on weight they are opting to add strategic padding so they appear bigger than they really are. The curve-enhancing padding, known in the industry as a fat suit, is increasingly being used by models eager to meet the demand for bigger women. Several agents and models said that even plus-size models, regarded as anything over a size 12, are faking it rather than putting on the extra weight that the new vogue demands.

Saffi Karina, 27, a London based model with the plus-size agency Hughes, has been asked to "pad up" her size 12 figure on a shoot for a German client later this year. "The brand said they loved her look," says Sarah Eastaugh, head booker at the agency, "but they really wanted someone who was a size 14." Karina, who is two dress sizes bigger than most conventional models, says: "I was advised to get a padded undergarment that adds a couple of inches to your bust, waist and hips — a 'fat suit', so to speak." She hopes the suit, which is being made by a seamstress, will allow her to work for clients eager to portray more voluptuous girls.

The demand for shapelier women is partly a reaction to the controversy over anorexic looking size-zero models. It has also been fuelled by the popularity of actors such as Mad Men's Christina Hendricks. Even high-street retailers now stock underwear that "accentuates" the bottom and hips. The trend has come from the US.

Last week Marquita Pring, who has posed for Italian Vogue and walked the catwalk for Jean-Paul Gaultier, revealed that as a size 14 to 16 she wears padding to appear bigger. "I don't know if we should reveal this secret!" she told Women's Wear Daily. "They're pieces of foam. I lay them flat on each hip. They're like a solid inch and a half thick. "It's to make you seem all around wider," she added. "It's better for me because I can still be healthy and work out and have the body I want." Pring's agent, Garry Dakin, said he had noticed an increasing demand for fuller figures in high fashion and regular editorial work. In June, Italian Vogue featured four plus-size models, including Pring, in a cover shoot by Steven Meisel.

Debra Bourne, who founded All Walks Beyond the Catwalk, a campaign for diversity in the fashion industry, does not advocate the use of padding. "It's ironic, like reverse airbrushing," she said. "It might be a step in the right direction but we shouldn't be setting up another ideal. Our message is about authenticity."

So. Plus-size models. Pin them to make them fit the clothes. Pad them to make them curvier. I can't even begin to dissect the elements of this article that disturbed me. The thing is, at least if a model is small and has to be pinned, we can SEE that. We can KNOW that a size 14 girl doesn't fit size 20 clothes. But to me, padding a girl to make her look bigger, in order to sell something is a contextual lie. It is just as bad as the Julia Roberts airbrushing scandal that was in the media late last week (in my opinion Julia doesn't really need airbrushing). I understand advertising. Before I worked in films, I worked on television commercials so am well aware of successful marketing ploys, but for me - PADDING a model is just a bad idea.

One of my FAVOURITE all time pictures of a plus model is Tara Lynn in French Elle. No pinning. Certainly no padding. Naked. Natural. Gorgeous. I remember seeing this picture of her and thinking - WOW.

And also, THANK GOODNESS.

Tara Lynn is smaller then me - but THAT is a body I can relate too. I love Tara Lynn for that photo spread. And all she is doing is being herself.

Seriously.

WOW.

You know, I know fat suits HAVE existed in fashion for quite a few years now, however, the hilarious irony that curves are now so "IN" that mainstream media can discuss "fat suits" doesn't really amuse me.

I am actually really bored of people stating there should be no "plus-size" distinction in the modeling world. I am really bored of plus-size being a negative term. I feel sick that because "plus-size" is in vogue right now, a fat suit can become a norm. I lament that a gorgeous, healthy woman can say something like, "A fat-suit [sic] is better for me because I can still be healthy and work out and have the body I want" - WHILE selling stuff to ACTUAL plus-size girls.

Despite my last sentence, I actually have NO qualms with the models in this article for taking an opportunity by padding out or for speaking openly about this. I actually commend them for being so honest. And, apart from the women in the Times article who state that they have used fat-suits I can't say how many models do this or name anyone else who does. I obviously can't say how this is being facilitated, or who uses or advocates this practice, but I can say this:

As a woman, a consumer, a fat girl, a plus-size clothes wearer and someone who HATES being deceived, the use of fat-suits, to pad out models, has struck a very bad chord with me.

Further from this, please note, I am not ignorant and do understand how things work in fashion, but every now and again, I have to be able to vent about things like this here on my blog.

For me, plus-size fashion and our plus-size world are the most wonderful things. I LOVE them. I do not love "plus-size" people and or clothing being treated as a negative. I believe padding, like airbrushing sets unreasonable expectations and standards which are detrimental and frankly - fashion has done this for long enough.

Simply Be Model Competition BACK for 2011

I have literally JUMPED on this announcement - Ladies, the Simply Be Model Competition is BACK for 2011 - for details and terms, head to the facebook site - HERE.

Last year competition finalists were a range of sizes reflecting the women and fashionable babes that the online site caters for. So check it out and apply! You are beautiful and you have a shot - DO IT!!

I feel so excited. I wonder if blogging this so quickly is a little premature - like there may be more information to come, but I can not help myself. I love positive steps in fashion and I think brands like Simply Be are at the forefront of this positivity.

In the last year there have been so many strides - City Chic expanded into the States, Evans is about to expand there too, Asos Curve arrived(!), Simply Be is about to move from online and open three stores, Anna Scholz opened a standalone store in Berlin... and so much more is happening.

This is an exciting time - to be embraced.

Very Berry Beautiful: Simply Be's Floral Print Maxi.

Sunshine abounds in London right now and I wanted to show you my lovely dress from the Very Berry Collection at Simply Be.

This is the Floral Print Maxi (RRP £45).

I adore this dress. I have a couple of other Maxi's from Simply Be and like those dresses, this one has a beautiful drape that falls well, flattering my figure and epitomising beauty.

I love the orange, purple and dusty pinks and love the light, gorgeous lining. There is a small amount of detail on the sleeve that I love too - just another little feature to make this dress just that little bit more unique and special.

I think everyone went GaGa with the release of the Very Berry Collection. Apart from this amazing Maxi, I was also captivated by the Printed Culotte Jumpsuit... I mean, what a playful piece!

As many of you know - Simply Be has announced a few stores opening this year and it looks like an announcement may be made on MONDAY on their facebook page, so make sure you check it out. The imminent opening of more stores for plus-size girls is amazing. The fact that Simply Be, one of the most dominant online shopping and catolgue companies, is committing to us by opening some stores says a lot.

It says a lot about the future too.

We Love Colors Review: Colour and Subtlety...

There have been some amazing reviews for We Love Colors online lately - I particularly loved the review over at Pocket Rocket and the shot of Lauren in the Navy Tights is DIVINE. One of the things I have always loved about We Love Colors is the fact it creates CURVY hosiery as well as a non-curvy range. A company like We Love Colors helps make tights, leggings and stockings far more accessible to women with curvier calves and thicker thighs. I am such a woman!

When approached by We Love Colors about doing a review, I was very keen. I have always wanted a pair of great fishnets - and luckily for me, fishnets are part of the We Love Colors Curvy range. Fishnets in all kinds of colours. Not just green (the pic on the left is from the We Love Colors website), but about five different shades of green. Oranges, Reds, Blacks, Yellows.. I could continue.

I decided to buck trend though and try the Light Tan. I wanted subtle fishnets - the kind that I can wear and that will draw intrigue before someone realises - I have the hotness that is FISHNETS wrapped around my legs.

BOOM!

The tights, once out of the pack look like any other tights. The Fishnets, unlike a lot of hoisery do not come with a "control gusset" around the waist or thighs. In fact - the elasticised top is great - subtle, doesn't hurt and completely stretchy around my round midriff. In fact - on the site it states the fishnets will fit a 48inch waist. Mine hits about 49.5 and these babies fit me comfortably.

Once on, these Fishnets were comfortable and easy to wear. There was a seam in the crotch that I had to move about for comfort, but once in the correct place (manouvering took about 32 seconds), these were like a dream.

Now. I did have a little weird sensation in the first five minutes of wear. I wear tights. A lot. The different texture of the fishnets between my thighs and on my skin WAS a little different, but, after swooshing about for five minutes, this different feeling had almost no effect. Comfort reigned.

The design of these tights is lovely and I DO love my skin peeping through. I have gone for direct skin and leg pics due to the subtelty of the colour I selected to review - I bet though (indeed as you can see from the green fishnet product shot, above), in colour - these babies would also totally rock it.

But for me? I love the subtlety of this. The ability to feel unique and original without being overt. I can be very OVERstated, so the understated feminity of this hoisery, CERTAINLY appeals. When I wear these out on a night, it will be with a curvy black dress (for straight up sex appeal), or perhaps with the dress in my last post - the Joe Browns Lively Tunic, mix pattern with pattern and feel flipping fabulous.
