Very Berry Beautiful: Simply Be's Floral Print Maxi.

PhotobucketSunshine abounds in London right now and I wanted to show you my lovely dress from the Very Berry Collection at Simply Be.

This is the Floral Print Maxi (RRP £45).

I adore this dress. I have a couple of other Maxi's from Simply Be and like those dresses, this one has a beautiful drape that falls well, flattering my figure and epitomising beauty.

I love the orange, purple and dusty pinks and love the light, gorgeous lining. There is a small amount of detail on the sleeve that I love too - just another little feature to make this dress just that little bit more unique and special.

I think everyone went GaGa with the release of the Very Berry Collection. Apart from this amazing Maxi, I was also captivated by the Printed Culotte Jumpsuit... I mean, what a playful piece!

As many of you know - Simply Be has announced a few stores opening this year and it looks like an announcement may be made on MONDAY on their facebook page, so make sure you check it out. The imminent opening of more stores for plus-size girls is amazing. The fact that Simply Be, one of the most dominant online shopping and catolgue companies, is committing to us by opening some stores says a lot.

It says a lot about the future too.

How exciting. x.

We Love Colors Review: Colour and Subtlety...

We Love Colors,Review,Stockings,Plus-size,Curvy,Fishnets

There have been some amazing reviews for We Love Colors online lately - I particularly loved the review over at Pocket Rocket and the shot of Lauren in the Navy Tights is DIVINE. One of the things I have always loved about We Love Colors is the fact it creates CURVY hosiery as well as a non-curvy range. A company like We Love Colors helps make tights, leggings and stockings far more accessible to women with curvier calves and thicker thighs. I am such a woman!

When approached by We Love Colors about doing a review, I was very keen. I have always wanted a pair of great fishnets - and luckily for me, fishnets are part of the We Love Colors Curvy range. Fishnets in all kinds of colours. Not just green (the pic on the left is from the We Love Colors website), but about five different shades of green. Oranges, Reds, Blacks, Yellows.. I could continue.

I decided to buck trend though and try the Light Tan. I wanted subtle fishnets - the kind that I can wear and that will draw intrigue before someone realises - I have the hotness that is FISHNETS wrapped around my legs.

We Love Colors,Review,Stockings,Plus-size,Curvy,Fishnets
The tights, once out of the pack look like any other tights. The Fishnets, unlike a lot of hoisery do not come with a "control gusset" around the waist or thighs. In fact - the elasticised top is great - subtle, doesn't hurt and completely stretchy around my round midriff. In fact - on the site it states the fishnets will fit a 48inch waist. Mine hits about 49.5 and these babies fit me comfortably.

Once on, these Fishnets were comfortable and easy to wear. There was a seam in the crotch that I had to move about for comfort, but once in the correct place (manouvering took about 32 seconds), these were like a dream.

Now. I did have a little weird sensation in the first five minutes of wear. I wear tights. A lot. The different texture of the fishnets between my thighs and on my skin WAS a little different, but, after swooshing about for five minutes, this different feeling had almost no effect. Comfort reigned.

The design of these tights is lovely and I DO love my skin peeping through. I have gone for direct skin and leg pics due to the subtelty of the colour I selected to review - I bet though (indeed as you can see from the green fishnet product shot, above), in colour - these babies would also totally rock it.

But for me? I love the subtlety of this. The ability to feel unique and original without being overt. I can be very OVERstated, so the understated feminity of this hoisery, CERTAINLY appeals. When I wear these out on a night, it will be with a curvy black dress (for straight up sex appeal), or perhaps with the dress in my last post - the Joe Browns Lively Tunic, mix pattern with pattern and feel flipping fabulous.

She's Like a Rainbow! Joe Browns for Simply Be.

Quickie Post! With a Blurry Blackberry Photo! Oh YES!

This is a Joe Browns for Simply Be dress that I mentioned in my last post. I love it. The material is soft, the cut is divine and the pattern is so alive. This is the Joe Browns Lively Tunic Dress and I can tell you it is light enough to wear on our colder summer days - and will be like a shining beacon of lightness and happiness for Winter. In fact, I have arrived at work this morning and everyone (and by everyone, I mean ALL eleven people I work with) have commented on how much they LOVE it. Unique, upbeat and colourful being key adjectives!

One of my Mr. Darcy's songs for me, is She's Like a Rainbow by the Rolling Stones. THIS dress reminds me of that song and BOTH are a perfect fit for me! x

She's Like a Rainbow (Rolling Stones)

She comes in colors ev'rywhere;
She combs her hair
She's like a rainbow
Coming, colors in the air
She comes in colors

She comes in colors ev'rywhere;
She combs her hair
She's like a rainbow
Coming, colors in the air
Oh, everywhere
She comes in colors

Have you seen her dressed in blue?
See the sky in front of you
And her face is like a sail
Speck of white so fair and pale
Have you seen a lady fairer?

She comes in colors ev'rywhere;
She combs her hair
She's like a rainbow
Coming, colors in the air
She comes in colors

Have you seen her all in gold?
Like a queen in days of old
She shoots colors all around
Like a sunset going down
Have you seen a lady fairer?

She comes in colors ev'rywhere;
She combs her hair
She's like a rainbow
Coming, colors in the air
Oh, everywhere
She comes in colors

She's like a rainbow
Coming, colors in the air
Oh, everywhere
She comes in colors

Check out this new Anna Scholz Feather Jacket for Simply Be.

Seriously - one of my favourite things about being a blogger is the amazing opportunities I'm lucky enough to have - today, together, we get to look at the latest Anna Scholz Collection for Autumn Winter 2011 at Simply Be. I seriously LOVE Simply Be and feel very fortunate to bring these pictures to you!

The thing is, I have been so excited lately,  jumping on line and seeing the slow release of the latest collections for Simply Be. The Joe Browns Lively Tunic Dress has me mesmerised, as does the whole Very Berry Collection, just lately released!

These new dresses by Anna Scholz illustrate the exciting aspects of the season to come. Anna ALWAYS nails shape, drape, curve and silhouette when it comes to crafting her garments. I love that these preview pictures incorporate her seemingly easy style and design with geometric prints, figure loving length and winter sexiness. The sleeves, button down bust and longline drape of the Geometric Print Maxi, below, is spot-on...

Look at the Black Velour Dress, below. This piece perfectly captures the fact that winter - while totally freezing,  can be about covering up and still looking totally hot!

If you are looking for a gorgeous night out with the girls - why not try the dress below, the Anna Scholz Glitter Tunic Dress? This is the kind of dress you could wear for cocktails or on a lovely date with a special someone. I own a couple of Anna Scholz's tunics and this type of cut and shape is completely slammin'.  Another thing I love about this dress is that it could be worn many ways, sheer stockings, tights, coloured tights, pants, bare legs and with so many different kinds of accessories.

Totally versatile and totally hot.

Finally - I have saved another completely breath-taking dress until last.

This Anna Scholz Mock Wrap Print Maxi Dress is divine. As a part of the AW collection, this will brighten up the dreariest of days and could easily be teamed with a Cardigan or Shawl. Another great aspect of this dress though? On those rare, sunshiny days that creep into Autumn, this dress will add a colour and brightness to anyones week. Yours? Certainly! But also? To ANYONE you pass on the street. This is killer. I love it!

Naturally Beautiful.

Torrid,City Chic,Simply Be,Anna Scholz,Travel,Malta,Gok Wan,Shrug,Dress,Plus size,Plus-size,Curves,Curvy,Women,Women's FashionI wear makeup almost every day. I wear it because I love it. And these days - as part of my "every day" look - I like subtlety. In fact, as you can see from the photo on the left (the dress is from Simply Be) -  I like natural, tinted moisturiser, mascara and gloss. I am actually enjoying getting older and am finding my face - with its baby eye wrinkles, forehead furrow and little freckles interesting and quite pretty.

I used to like a heavier look (indeed, when I was a goth I liked black EVERYTHING - hair, eyeliner, eye shadow, lipstick!!) but now, I save heavier makeup for special occassions, girls' nights and ... date nights.

Heavier makeup on a date night - I am wearing City Chic.

While I was away, I woke up one morning and my hotel had had a burst pipe. No water = no shower.

I needed a shower. To be honest, I was working such long hours, I NEEDED a shower to wake up and feel alive. When I work so hard, I also find rituals like washing my hair, dressing up and putting on makeup a refresher each day. BUT NOT THAT DAY.

Luckily - I know how to solve a problem. First I stood in the bathroom at the hotel and did a flannel wash in the sink so I (at least) felt a little clean... then -

I popped on a swimsuit.

Then, I put clothes on over my swimsuit and I ignored my normal rituals in favour of going without makeup or combed hair. I decided to look gorgeous - absolutely NATURALLY. Just as myself.

I ended up getting to work early and going for a swim at the beach outside my workplace. I felt refreshed and happy and let my hair dry naturally and my skin dry naked.

Natural. Fresh. Beautiful.

And I felt great.

I pretty much believe all people are gorgeous. We are unique and interesting and lovely. We are put together differently and also are very much the same. I feel good about myself these days, but haven't always felt so calm and happy. You have seen me tell you I DO have ugly days and don't always like myself the way I should - but ultimately - naturally, we are all pretty beautiful. It's funny that a burst pipe in a Hotel in Malta reminded me, so strongly, of that.

OOTD: Let Your Colours Burst - Little Miss Firework

Torrid,City Chic,Simply Be,Anna Scholz,Travel,Malta,Gok Wan,Shrug,Dress,Plus size,Plus-size,Curves,Curvy,Women,Women's Fashion
I am in Malta. Work flew me here and despite my strong desire to hang out by the pool and be fabulous and relax - I have mostly been stuck in a transformed hotel suite - working and working and working.

Torrid,City Chic,Simply Be,Anna Scholz,Travel,Malta,Gok Wan,Shrug,Dress,Plus size,Plus-size,Curves,Curvy,Women,Women's Fashion
A pool in Malta, I WISH I was swimming in!

The thing is - despite the fact that I am here and completely snowed under - when I have a moment, it is so important for me to feel good and refreshed and like I could wander about the city and blend in happily and beautifully - without LOOKING like I am here working.

At the moment, apart from being in Malta, I am also obsessed with the Katy Perry song firework, it makes me feel GREAT about life and possibility. One of my fellow bloggers, Hope, recently posted on her "Firework" dress at Inside Chic. I have a really fabulous Firework Dress for Winter in the form of my Anna Scholz Digital Print dress... And, I recently re-found and therby are re-wearing a dress which I am now defining as my Summer Firework dress... no where near as bright as the Anna Scholz print, but I think - in the summer haze here in Malta, the faded subliminal tattoo print works - it is an active print but not too assaulting colour wise.

Don't mind my little black bra! I forgot my beige one.

Seriously cute, right? I got it from Torrid about two years ago. I actually don't wear this often enough - considering how much I like it.

For me, this dress means comfort and a subtle, interesting style. With a banded Empire Line and back ties it also rocks my curve. OH YEAH.

I love Curve Rockage.

PS - Thanks to all you girls who commented on my last post about breast support and swimsuits. It is to do with confidence, but also such a massive comfort issue. I loved your amazing responses, and just wanted to make sure you know how much I appreciated them.
