A little more Gok Wan... Sculpt Me Skirt & Paparazzi Pants Review!

Last week, you ladies heard me raving about the Gok Wan Sassy Slip.

Well here (albeit with no more photos of my bum or body) is some more info on the Gok line for you to read about. Firstly though, I want to elaborate on my shapewear experience. Like many women, I own a pair of Spanx. Before I left Australia in 2008, I owned one pair, which I bought on a whim, for a glitzy night out. When I left Australia and came to the UK I was tempted to leave the Spanx behind, but at such a high price, they did manage to make their way into my suitcase. I then started wearing them in the London Winter as the weather got colder. In fact, learning to dress in the UK was a real learning curve for me because of the need to layer, something I never did in Adelaide or Sydney... I found that the Spanx Higher Power Panties kept my midriff warm and because of their thin, double layer of tight material - kept me snug. I now have a couple pairs of Spanx and I wear them every now and again, but most often during more wintry months.

When Simply Yours asked me to look at a couple more products, I immediately latched on to the Paparazzi Pants (£36.00).

Let me tell you right now, the Paparazzi Pants are pretty damn fabulous. Like the Sassy Slip, the material is made of a type of power mesh, very similar in feel (when you wear them) to a swimsuit. There is a boning/piping down the front of the pants which don't constrict or dig in, but rather maintain shape. The pants sit high (under your breasts) and don't roll down so you feel snug and comfortably held, which (I think) helps maintain a confidence in how the shaper is sitting, which in turn helps you feel good wearing them. The legs are a little different, the material is a power mesh, which DOES hold your thighs, but this material is not at all constricting and really these Paparazzi Pants feel much more like they are shaping under the breasts, tummy, waist, hip and bum when they are on.

These are comfortable. Like Spanx, they have an open-able area in your "girl-zone" for easy bathroom access... again, I prefer to wear these with my own pants and doing so has no impact on the shaping or comfort. I am actually going to defer my next purchases of shapewear across to this Gok Style. The key here IS the material and the fact they shape without constricting. These are comfortable and feel really natural and easy to put on and then wear all day. Again, these are Gok Wan underwear gold.

The Gok Wan Sculpt Me Skirt (£33.00) is extremely similar in make and feel to the Sassy Slip and Paparazzi Pants. AGAIN, there is the lovely, non-constricting power mesh and piping holding everything in place. Like the Sassy Slip, the Skirt has leopard panties as well as a little silicone strip around the bottom of the garment in order to hold it in place and stop it rolling up over your bum. This is an item which also shapes from under your breasts, down your hips... also, because this is a skirt, it shapes the curve of your bum and upper thigh really nicely for wearing skirts.

While I like this product and have worn it a couple of times I have found this a little awkward. The thing is, it is totally lovely and feels great on - in fact, it would be absolutely perfect under any skirt or dress, I think though I prefer the extra little bits of support that the Paparazzi Pants offered (holding the thigh area) or that the Sassy Slip offered (basically in snugly loving my whole torso). That being said, this is another fabulous item. I think my preference for the Sassy Slip and Paparazzi Pants is literally just a personal thing and that had I tried the Gok Wan Divine Outline - (which offers a skirt style slip with added shoulder support) I would have been completely taken!

Gok Wan underwear, gorgeous - even in BEIGE!!

So let's sum this up.

I became interested in the Gok Wan range when I found I needed a new bra. I started to research the perfect multi-way and for my breasts (42F) I decided to try the Balconette Banger Booster. In the blog post where I reviewed that bra (noting that after I bought one, I then bought three more) I mentioned how skeptical I was of a celebrity created/endorsed brand. Skepticism GONE. I really like this range and think Gok has created something that is comfortable and sexy. This is lingerie that can be worn every day, but thanks to vintage styling and sexy touches (like colour, leopard print lining, suspenders, piping etc) makes you feel feminine and confident.

I am a Total Gok Wan Underwear convert.

xxx.

PS - Thank you for all the lovely, positive comments from my last post. It WAS quite daunting putting up (albeit tame) underwear shots - so thank you! x.

  1. The Paparazzi pants do something else I don't expect from shapewear: they look good, or at least they do on the model. I wouldn't be embarrassed to be caught in that, and if it adds comfort as well as improving fit, I'd love to try it. Stashing my pennies now!

  2. Thanks for this post and the previous! I'm a busty gal as well and feel your pain when it comes to bra shopping. I will definitely be trying this out!

  3. Thanks for this review. I just checked Simply Be and the Sculpt Me Skirt and Banger Booster were both half price in the sale, and in my size so snagged me both.

I have a divine outline and I love it although I always end up feeling a little bulky around the shoulders thanks to the extra straps. I'm hoping the Sculpt Me Skirt will solve this problem whilst controlling my out of control midriff!!

Hi there! Thank you for leaving your post. Due to some blatantly obvious spammers I have had to turned comment moderation back on with word captcha for older posts. Hopefully the spammers will bugger off and I can take some of the settings back to normal quickly! Thank you and smooches! Em. x
